This although sad, is actually decent news. I was expecting this to be a horrible thing, in fact on the radio this morning they were saying how Toyota will now be the king but I don't see it this month.

Your right, the Cobalt probably is an easier sale then the Aveo. Regardless the Aveo should be a better vehicle and should be a better value. GM always thinks its clever in pushing people toward certain products but IMO it is not good business.

For everyone who always screams to kill Saturn, please notice it is outselling Buick, Cadillac, Hummer, and Saab... with NO Haggle pricing and a limited dealership network. And this after moving away from their traditional buyers. I'm not saying its doing great, but not bad either.
Not only was Torrent up, so was Equinox...strange month.

Did anyone notice that SATURN sold more trucks than cars last month? Even compared to last year, there is a huge gain for them.

Did the lambdas suffer from availability due to the American Axle Strike? Could this explain those figures?

In other really bad auto industry news...
--Ford down more than 30%
--Toyota down 22%

Toyota saw its truck sales fall by nearly 40%. I would love to see how badly the Tundra is selling especially considering its inferior fuel economy to both the F150 and the GM twins.

Notice the STS. For a 'flop' it's holding it's own.

Did anyone happen to notice that the strong gains contain a lot of Pontiac and Saturn while the strong losses hit GMC?

Perhaps further weight that out of all these brands, GMC will get axed if any of the rumors are even true?

Yayyyy!!!
Good job GM. Looks like the Malibu's a big hit. More products like that and we're going to be just fine.

I think its a damn nice flop myself. I could see me replacing my LaCrosse with a CPO STS someday.

All of this WITHOUT government backing and funding ...can toyota say the same NO ..I am tired as an american to constantly hear the nay sayers ..always talk about how great everyone else is ...well GM has had to deal with legacy costs,a rapidly changing market ,a host of bad press never mind BAD reporting ....and still out sell the vaunted Japaneese toyota brand........AGAIN......a wise old guy said to me a while ago ...if you want to contribute to the japaneese retirement plan and health plan go ahead and buy a toyota ,but if you want to contribute to your own then ...well you know the rest...wake up america ...before it is too late.....congratulations to GM .. for confounding the so called experts and keep up the good work...and I know more is coming

Not from AM. AX. but from their plant being on strike for what?? 3 weeks? Maybe.

Gas is $4.10/gallon, and Chevrolet can't sell a subcompact. GM deserves that failure, it's a miserable car. Consumers aren't stupid.
I'm in agreement. I owned an 07 Aveo. It was nothing but bad news. I only kept it around 7K miles before I had enough of breaking down and rattles that were driving me crazy.
I'm impressed with the news though. GM is actually doing something about their balance of cars to body on frame trucks/suvs. I think I'll buy some GM stock...what a deal at 11 bucks.

I read somewhere else that the Malibu was stealing buyers from the Impala. People show up to look at the Impala, see the Malibu, and it's done.

You are lucky at $4.10. I paid $ 4.39 for regular this morning.
I just picked a random price that I figured was the median most Americans on this board are paying.
