I noticed too. I'm sure things will spike up quite nicely with the addition of the convertible.

I dunno about the interiors, but they are getting larger engines for 2007-that should help a bit, I would think.

Edit: I assume you mean Colorado/Canyon, not the cars.

^No, I mean the cars. The interiors in the G6 and Malibu are simply not competitive and a turnoff to many. Take an Malibu interior and compare it to the Fusion's interior. That should give you some idea as too the gap between GM and its domestic competition.

Thanks for the congrats, but I didn't kill the Explorer. Why does Ford let all their valuable nameplates die? Taurus? Focus? Explorer? What next, F-series?

The sales of the Explorer dropped significantly only a few years after it was redesigned. I don't think that was Ford letting it die. Look to gas prices, a decline in popularity of midsize SUVs, an aging SportTrac that was just redesigned, and the Freestyle as at least part of the cause. I agree with you on the Taurus, Focus, and Ranger though.

Re: GM Reports 345,404 Deliveries in April, Down 7%

GM should be working 24/7 to update the problem car lines. Rising fuel prices, hit mid April, so the impact on GMT-900 models may not be reflected in April sales. Every week that high fuel prices are maintained translates into more of a chance that buyers will look for other options. GM needs to ramp up, not ramp down car sales to offest the inevitable decline in truck sales that will come one day. Smart business sense says diversify, don't have all you eggs in one basket.

Right now at the Dealership I work at they can't sell any of their SUVs or Trucks!!! They suck, both gas and finish wise.

Why is GM still losing market share?! It's great to see the new SUVs are gaining sales but would that continue when gas prices exceed $3.00 per gallon?
GM needs better compact and midsize sedans, soon!

So they made less this year than they did in their worst year in history.

How is this good news?

Exactly. Here's what gets me into trouble - assuming that GM is onto the obvious. Just when I feel comfortable that they might do something in the right direction, they pull a left turn and go south.

Common sense and good business sense would assume that GM would be diversifying - using the truck sales as a temporary income boost to get their cars up-2-speed. But we can't assume anything with GM anymore. For all we know, they could be sitting in board rooms right now, planning their future Truck/SUV emphasis, while another board room is discussing methods of feature cuts for their car lines. We just don't know what this company has planned, nor can we bank on wise decisions being made.

Yes, they have changed much in the past two years. That's admirable...*HOWEVER*, their changes to date only get them to the point of being competitive in an auto industry circa 2003. Well, its now 2006 and the industry has since moved on. It seems they are always behind, and that their plans come to fruition three years late. Just once, I'd like to see them leap-frog to the fore-front and forget about the catch-up game.
