Well..... who knows...... the trend line is heading south.

Again, way faster than predicted ( for this time period ) - by almost all - for the last 9 months.

Quote:
DETROIT, Aug 1 (Reuters) - U.S. auto sales were running at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of about 12.7 million units in July, based on a calculation by Reuters from sales data released on Friday by automakers representing over 80 percent of the market.

The seasonally adjusted annual rate, or SAAR, is a closely tracked indicator of auto industry demand.

Sales results included the top six automakers in the U.S. market:
Late add - its worse - more like 12.55 million for JULY 2008'S SAAR.

Re: GM July sales down 26.7%

This is pretty sad. Even if GM had a full line up of good cars they would be having issues. The economy and fuel costs are killing everyone. As was already stated, the Cruze can't get here soon enough, along with a more fuel efficient and safer Aveo.

I guess this month the media is going to soften the blow by using raw volume numbers rather than first reporting dsr adjusted percentages and the raw volume numbers later.

Let the confusion begin.

Wow, how the hell did Nissan 'outperform' Honda ?

I still maintain that moving up the GMT900s was a brilliant move by GM. They have fresh product that can age in an era that moves buyers back to cars. Had they not moved the GMT900s they'd have nothing competitive in that vital, though shrunken, market.

And when we look at spyshots pertaining to GM vehicles they're all cars and crossovers. That's good.

Go thru the entire sales report - there are many outstanding numbers.

There is also a group that although not outstanding certainly are usable and or good enough.

It's a very tough year - so look for the industrywide data numbers and compare.

Anything that's not down by more than 10 - 15% ? (approx.) is not a total loser.

Just remember, when surrounded in depth it does make things a little easier in one sense - no matter what.

If you continue 'taking action' you can't help but hit something that matters.

Keep doing that, and things will change.

Never give up - you are not truly defeated unless you do that first - or are no longer breathing.

Re: GM July sales down 26.7%

it's going to go from ugly to downright nasty in August. the new disincentives are out. funeral homes are more upbeat than showrooms today.

people thought me to be a fruitcake and disloyal years ago when I called for Wagoner's removal, nuts when I claimed they were going to sell GMAC, and crazy when I predicted $10 Billion loss when GMS for everyone was announced. being ahead of the curve can be a lonely place.

i thought that Honda was kicking everyone's behind. one would have thought that they sold more cars than everyone else combined- according to the mainstream media lies.

Too bad GM has completely ignored cars for years now.

It seems like just yesterday they were putting Zeta on "hold" (GM spin for completely cancelled) to move trucks to the forefront.

Just another in a very long line of GM car bungles.

It's weird seeing the things you knew were on the horizon but didn't really want to see finally happening.
