GM Canada February 2008 Sales Results - up 14%!!

Oshawa, Ontario (March 3, 2008) – For February 2008, General Motors of Canada dealers delivered 26,501 units representing an increase of 14% over the same month last year.

“February’s growth was driven by a 33.1% increase in car sales and the strength of our recently launched products,” said Marc Comeau, GM of Canada’s vice-president of sales, service, and marketing. “The award winning Chevrolet Malibu, Cadillac CTS and Saturn Astra are gaining momentum and our family of crossover utility vehicles continue to see monthly increases. The all-new Pontiac Vibe is arriving in dealerships this month.”

February Highlights

-GM’s small cars continue to gain momentum with the Chevrolet Aveo and Pontiac Wave up a combined 86%, Pontiac Vibe up 44.2% and the Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 up a combined 29.5% - all driven by strong retail sales growth.
-The all-new Chevrolet Malibu continued to drive strong increases in the mid size segment with overall Malibu sales up 163.6%.
-The new Cadillac CTS came in strong, up 34.5%.
-The success of GM’s family of crossover vehicles, including the Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook resulted in GM more than doubling sales in the mid utility segment in February.
-Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) named the Chevrolet Silverado as its 2008 Truck of the Year.

Re: GM Canada February 2008 Sales Results - up 14%!!

I'm finally seeing Malibus here. At first it was one or two, but now I see them all the time! And I'm seeing Enclaves finally. I passed 2 yesterday in my neighbourhood! I stared at the other driver and she stared at me. I think we were both surprised, no less so for the fact the cars were identical -- same wheels, colour, CXL, etc. It was pretty funny. And, for those who care, she was my age -- mid 40s. Same with the other Enclave, another CXL and again someone in their mid-40s, a guy this time. So that makes 3 in my neighbourhood. There goes the exclusivity .

Just the opposite for me. I've seen a few Enclaves (more Acadia's actually), but no Malibu's on the road yet (just a few at dealers).
I've also saw my first Astra parked the other day, and I've seen a lot of CTS's.

I wonder if all these months' of increase's are coming from the Loonie being on par...? Has GM Canada lowered any of their prices yet?

Almost all of the models have some kind of price adjustment. 0% for 72 months on some cars also.

^^And lots of the vehicles offer 'cash purchase' price incentives.
Reason being, to buy a vehicle out of the US, you would have to cash buy or finance through your own cdn bank. Therefore, apples to apples, to 'buy' a vehicle here in Canada is nearly the same (on MOST, not all) as buyong one from the US.
The 0%/72 really helped us boost (tremendously) the sales of G5 and G6 in January and February.
And now with the new Vibe, the residuals are through the roof creating insanely cheap leases!
