Since few of thos emodels are stocked your point is irrelevant. That is a fleet model.

I believe the Sonata has a 4 speed standard. Could be wrong though. Corolla, Matrix, Xb and other vehicles that cost close to $20k with options have a 4 speed auto.

The 2010 4Runner has a 4 speed and starts at $27k. So does Tacoma. Get a life. Also, get your facts straight. Didnt you just say the Malibu doesn't have ipod connectivity?

We all have excuses, I have yet to see an 2010 Equinox since like Camaros around here they sell within the hour of hitting the lot. (every dealership within 30 miles of me).

Not bad for Ford having their newest Fusion out for a few months and the Mali in the 3rd model year of the same style.

GM hasn't been a juggernaut for decades. What possible excuse can they have for not making their products and coverage better? They are in a simiilar position now that Hyundai was in when the setup shop here in the US.
I concur stig lol

Apparently Ford needs a better Fusion, Focus, and a B-car. Your complaint is unfounded.
There is a problem with your analysis: You must add Mercury Milan to the Fusion area to get the correct totals! Then you will understand the disparity!

New models tend to sell better than older ones. Malibu sales are not down as much as Accord/Camry sales for the year. Not that you would mention that.

CArry on.
If "new models sell better than older ones" it still looks like the Fusion is having better succes than the Malibu.

YTD for 2008 for the Malibu (when it was a new model) was 140,555. This was during a fairly good auto sales period between January through the summer (prior to the economic collapse.)

The Fusion (which debuted Feb 2009) has YTD 2009 numbers of 134,600. This is just over 4% lower than the Malibu but it is during a slow auto sales year and the new model wasn't even available for all the months this year.

Based on this it seems like the Fusion has much more appeal to new vehicle buyers.

Just looked at Toyota's results:

Traverse outsold Highlander:

Equinox came within 1500 units of RAV4

CTS outsold ES350 and IS

Lacrosse sold 700 units less than ES350.

Malibu and Prius sales were about the same.

GM sucks.

I have seen a few of the new Equinox on the road already, not as many as I thought I would with them selling so well.

Fusion isn't doing bad since its remodel. However I thought that the Malibu might start doing a little better with the winding down of the Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura...maybe when the inventories are closer to gone (not sure what they have left currently)?

Ford has a hybrid which means more sales. Good for them. I fail to see how this proves the Malibu is a subpar car. 2008 was not a strong sales year. It was better than this one, but still weak.

The dealer in my area, a mega dealer by the way, had nothing and he was crying about it. GM should improve their inventories if they expect to sell their product. Dealers cannot sell what they don't have.

Well, I've recently had a chance to drive one, and frankly it's not that good, OK maybe, but certainly not "class" leading. I found it no better than my old W-Body Grand Prix.

If you had Milan you might as well add G6 and Aura to Malibu sales. They sold 8k G6's last month- far more than the Milan.

Malibu and Prius sales about the same. I did not know we have to compare malibu to prius to make toyota look bad. Why dont you compare volt to prius and malibu to camry and then you will see how bad gm is managed

Toyota is profitable and has been for decades. GM has not. GM also had to be bailed out and is continued to be supported directly by the US government. Toyota also has a good reputation and very good company image. GM does not.

Oh look a GM something outsold a Toyota something, it won't be long for GM now!!111

It's always a new excuse with GM each month. Always.

camry sales are down 25% this year. How does that stack up in terms of declines? Camry came out about 6 months before the Malibu so its slightly older. Accord came out same time as Malibu and is doing worse in terms of declines in 2009.

Oh GM needed a bailout...nevermind the fact that Toyota is subsidized by the Japanese government, or that their government manipulates currency levels to boost their profits.

GM has decent products and is starting to sell them because they are good products and is even outselling Toyota's bland products, but to you its a fail?!?!?
