Re: Ford sales lead in Canada for first time in 50 years

Congrats to Ford!! Well Done.

I think there recent success in Canada is due to there aggresive marketing campaign where they mention how they are equal to Toyota & Honda in quality. As well they advertise safety, technology and excellent mpg. The message seems to be getting across. Even as a GM guy their advertising has me considering Ford....well only the F Series.

There is no such thing as a "domestic" car in Canada. Every car in Canada is made in a factory owned by a foreign-based corporation. Why not favour the ones building new plants instead of shutting them down?

So, with the Camaro overtaking the Mustang in sales in June in the U.S.-something that probably hasn't happened in decades, too-are we to draw the same conclusion about the Camaro versus the Mustang?

Probably not in both cases.

Re: Ford sales lead in Canada for first time in 50 years

Driving by the BPG dealer where I bought my GP, by quick glance as I drove by last night they had no trucks, MAYBE a Lucerne or two, and a small mix of G3's, G5's and Vibe's. Not a single G6 or G8 in sight. Even worse situation at the Chrysler dealer in my hometown when I was there last weekend, they had maybe 5 new cars. If you didn't know any better you'd swear the market was booming by how naked these lots are.

Congrats to Ford though, they've got a lot of good products now. After seeing some of their prices, considering replacing the Aztek with a used Freestyle or Flex.

I got a 2010 Stang GT Convertible in June. I wanted a Camaro, but the fact that it does not have a convertible yet, and the dealers are selling at MSRP with quite long waits put me off. First Ford for me after 7 years of GM-only vehicles...
The Ford dealer in Mississauga was loaded with cars and trucks, plenty to choose from.

Where in Canada do you live? I have yet to see a 2010 Fusion on the road. But as for Malibu's I see them everywhere now, more so then camrys.

What a flawed logic. Guess why they are shutting plants down?

Just traveled between Sarnia and Cornwall on the 401 and saw several 2010 Fusions, about 5-7. 'Saw my 1st 2010 Buick Lacrosse (Allure in Canada), too; very sharp.

Because the ones "closing them down" have provided billions of dollars towards the quality of life of all Canadians. I am sick and tired of this Johnny come lately crap, GM, Ford and Chrysler have provided HUNDREDS of BILLIONS of dollars to the Canadian economy over the last 100 YEARS, they deserve some loyalty. I hope your kids treat you better in your old age, give you some respect for what you have done for them in the past, or you will end up in dirty depends in a roach infested home. If history isn't worth anything, what you did before lunch won't make your key card work after lunch.
