Re: ford january numbers

WoW ford is doing so good in cross overs. Edge almost outsells Saturn, buck and gmc crossovers together. I think for did a good job with those. Even escape is doing good. They just need new fusion asap.

Re: ford january numbers

I saw a Ford Flex on the freeway yesterday.

It looked like a limo version of the Scion xB. The wheelbase looked really long and awkward.

I wonder how well it's going to sell compared to the more traditional Ford SUV/crossover offerings.

IMHO the fusion is the brightest spot in ford's car lineup, I just hope they are already working on a major update for MY 2010 at the absolute latest.

I know just sales are not picking up. 10K last month is not so good. When you consider camry is doing about 40k and accord about 35k. you know fusion should do much better then 10k.

redesign will be a 2009 MY - but late this year. I was told to expect "bar setting interior"

I thought is was a refresh this year, with the Mondeo, 6 and Fusion all coming out as the same design in 2010. Oh well.

Coming from Ford, I highly doubt that. None of their recent redesigns have had attractive interiors.

Good news for Ford! I wonder what percentage of vehicles were sold with the SYNC system.

And I heard Elvis is alive. With luck Ford will do a top-notch job on the next Fusion, but it's a high-volume mid-market sedan... when's the last time anything 'bar-setting' came out in the midsize sedan class? Most new models just barely creep up to the top of the pile... I'm sure the next Fusion will be a great car, and as good as anything else out there... but I think it's a bit of a stretch to think it'll teach the others any lessons on interior design.

Ford must be quite disappointed with the current Fusion... I'm sure they had higher hopes for it. I know it has fairly low fleet volumes, but they were certainly aiming for higher than 10,000 units per month. I'm actually surprised it isn't closer to 20,000... I'm not much of a Ford fan, but it's quite a good sedan, and has the looks to stand out against the Accord and Camry.

Re: ford january numbers

Every month another loss of sales percentage.
There need some point at which they can shore up their share in the USA. Sure doesn't look good especially with the bread and butter F-150 sales so low and now the Mustang dropping with no new product on the horizon except for the Fairlane.

Even the 'hot selling' Edge is having its sales propped up with fire sale reductions in the Detroit area.

I have to wonder about that MKX number. Up 78% in one 30 day period? It sounds like Hertz placed an order, to me.

Edge and MKX were barely hitting lots last January

Re: Ford january numbers

I'm not a Ford fan either but the Fusion is a pretty nice car overall. I'm sure I'd be happy enough driving one. They look nice and have gotten pretty good reviews. I wish they were stealing more Camry/Accord sales. I'd love to see GM and Ford come back and take share from the imports in the car market. Maybe Chrysler will even join the competition as well someday.
