Now as for areas to work on:
Accelerate the Explorer/Sport Trac transition to unibody.

Make the Ranger replacement a smaller truck along the lines of the old Courier/Luv. Then take what is now the Ranger and make it bigger with a crew cab to compete with tacoma/frontier and call it an F100. F100 will do several things for Ford by bringing back an old name and by boosting the sales of the F-series (F-100 - F450).

Seriously consider bringing over more Euro-Fords as either Fords or Mercurys (Modeo obviously, S-Max, Ka/Street Ka and Galaxy Van would all do well).

Combine next gen E-Series and Transit...I lean towards the Transit architecture based on less weight and higher MPGs.

DSG, diesels...more is better.
Well what you wrote is coming, for 2012 the mondeo will merge with our fusion, the next ranger will be like the current one maybe a little smaller and there will be a F100 that will come first by 2010 and the ranger by 2011 and even the bronco will come but theres no timiline yet, the escape its supposed to merge with the Kuga, and the E van will merge with the Transit so you just need to hang at the Ford section a little more

Get some facts straight, 40%+- of those buying a Malibu and were trading in another, traded in a Camry.
and according to the EPA Website

Cobalt 5 speed-M-5 2.4/4 22/32 $2,085
Focus 5 speed-M-5 2.0/4 24/35 $1,815

(Nice Job by the way ford)
Even though this is a 3 mile per gallon difference, this is comparing apples to pears. The Cobalt has a larger engine, 2.4 to 2.0.

If desired, by the public I am sure GM will use the 1.8L4 currently available in the Vibe, and Astra.

M-5 1.8/4 26/33 $1,754 This power plant kills the Ford model in the all import City mpg where we all drive.

When/if they do will then please say that Cobalt killed Focus in MPG. I prefer discussion and not people who always bash another firm.

Those are two totally different engines. One is a GM (Astra), one is a Toyota(Vibe).

No, Ford is losing money without the products...in NA. In Europe and elsewhere the product lineup is outstanding, which is keeping the money flowing.

But if you consider that they lost 613 million the year before and this year they only loss 45 million in NA that must be saying something because they almost turn a profit in NA and without new products

And I cannot believe the supposed analyst because Ford posted a profit and beated WS they downgraded the stock, incredible bear stern analist downgrades Ford when their company almost went down under there noses

Bear Stearns downgraded to "underperform," saying the automaker's shares have rallied on improving macro sentiment and positive business press and recommends investors use the rally to prudently take near term profits.
Although Chief Executive Alan Mulally is "doing a terrific job with the turnaround," the brokerage said the company must be separated from the stock, which closed at $8.40 Thursday on the New York Stock Exchange.

I have an 07 Fusion 4 cyl/5 spd manual. Commuting 85% - 90% highway I have averaged 33+ with a window sticker number of 31. The same car in 08 has a number of 29. Do you think 33 is horrible? Do you think I would do so much better with a Camry? I think Ford and GM are learning how to get better numbers on the sticker because my experience is that they do as well in the real world as a similar Toyota or Honda.

Yeah, that is kind of weird huh? I do think both GM and Ford stocks are good ones to hold on to; there's potential to make a lot of money if you think long term.

Re: Ford: $100 million Q1 profit

Its amazing the difference one great man can make to a company. Mulally is the best CEO out there right now.

If the NA market had been good Ford would have probably made a boat load of money.
