F-Series and Civic Top Sales in April (Canada)

"The top-ten best-selling passenger cars in April 2008, in order, were the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Mazda3, Toyota Yaris, Chevrolet Cobalt, Hyundai Accent, Pontiac G5, Toyota Camry, Nissan Versa and Toyota Matrix.

Year-to-date to the end of April, the top ten were the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Mazda3, Toyota Yaris, Chevrolet Cobalt, Pontiac G5, Hyundai Accent, Toyota Camry, Nissan Versa and Ford Focus.

The top-ten light trucks in April, in order, were the Ford F-Series, Dodge Ram, Dodge Caravan, GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Silverado, Ford Escape, Ford Ranger, Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V and Chevrolet Uplander."

You could lump the Cobalt and G5 together and I bet they would top the sales. Its good to see that selling the Uplanders starting at just over $17,000 CDN for RWB has put them in the top 10 of sales. Its a shame that its really only the price thats its best selling point. Its still not a bad deal consindering you get OnStar, power windows/locks etc. for less then you could get a Cobalt.

The Sierra or Silverado should outsell the Ram.

The Ram isn't that nice of a truck at all.

Its true, but as i said about the Cobalt/G5 you could unofficially lump the Sierra and Silverado together, probably even beat the F-Series.

Majority of the time Silverado & Sierra sales are ahead of the F-series in Canada, and elsewhere as well.

Usually one or the other (Sivlerado/Sierra) is ahead of the Dodge Ram though, or no?

Dodge has some crazy sales going on with their trucks though which is making them sell like crazy. I know people buying them just because of the money on the hood, they don't even care about gas mileage. I'd have to disagree with the statement saying they're not nice tucks though. They're good for work and towing, look good, just not the best gas mileage.

Wow, very surprised to see the Silverado selling less than the GMC, and Dodge for that matter. Has gas gone up in Canada like it has in the US?

Its always been more expensive in Canada due to higher tax, i think the average is around $1.25 a litre which would be close to about $4.75 a gallon.

I'm pretty sure the sierra has for the most part always out sells the silverado. Dodge must have a deal going on, at least the tundra is no where in sight.

Interesting, I didn't realize that the higher sales of the Sierra was the norm in Canada. Had then been the case for the GMT-800s too?

True. Most Americans aren't aware that GM products sell in different proportions in Canada. Instead of as in the US where the Silverado/Sierra split is, say for example, 70/30, in Canada it's roughly 50/50, usually with the Sierra slightly in the lead.

I'd guess this is because many Canadian small towns, where the bulk of pickups are sold, have only a PBG dealer and no Chevy dealer.

Also I think the snow might play a factor.I feel safer driving my truck with 4 wheel drive in the snow (yes it is a Sierra).

And also I think the Sierra is much better looking and always has been compared to the Chevy... I have no idea why the Chevy always sells more in US because it is never better than the GMC.

Speak of the Tundra, that's one Toyota I never see much of. I have been noticing lots of GMT900 Silverados and Sierras though. F150s & Rams are everywhere as well, the stats don't lie.

It's $1.38 a litre around Montreal at the moment.

Who knows, maybe tomorrow it'll be $1.50

I think the GMC dealer network might be smaller then the Chevy network dealer.
