Civic and F-150 top Canadian sales in April
http://www.canadiandriver.com/news/060605-2.htm
June 5, 2006 Civic and F-150 top Canadian sales in April Richmond Hill, Ontario - The Honda Civic and the Ford F-Series pickup topped both April and year-to-date sales, according to data released by industry analyst Dennis DesRosiers. "The market was down in April 5.0 per cent, yet entry-level vehicle sales were up 1.1 per cent," DesRosiers says. "Clearly, there is a move to more fuel-efficient vehicles as a result of higher fuel prices and the sheer volume of new products being introduced into this segment. This move to entry-level seems unabated, and if you take fleet sales out of the equation, close to 55 per cent of consumers bought entry-level vehicles in April. This is huge." DesRosiers reports that large, luxury and sport segments also outperformed the market even though they were down 0.7 per cent; the mid-sized and family segments were down 14.3 per cent over the month, while intermediate SUVs were down 32.9 per cent for April. The top-selling passenger cars in April 2006, in order, were the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Mazda3, Toyota Yaris, Toyota Camry, Toyota Matrix, Ford Focus, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Cobalt and Chevrolet Malibu. Year-to-date (to April), the top sellers were the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Mazda3, Chevrolet Cobalt, Toyota Yaris, Toyota Matrix, Ford Focus, Chevrolet Impala, Pontiac Pursuit and Chrysler Sebring. In April sales of light trucks, the top ten in order were the Ford F-Series, Dodge Caravan, Dodge Ram, GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Uplander, Ford Ranger, Ford Escape, Pontiac Montana SV6 and Honda CR-V. Light truck year-to-date top performers, to April, were the Ford F-Series, Dodge Caravan, Dodge Ram, GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Uplander, Ford Escape, Pontiac Montana SV6, Ford Ranger and Toyota RAV4. |

Re: Civic and F-150 top Canadian sales in April
Why someone would ever consider buying an Uplander, Montana SV6, or Terrazza is beyond me. I've heard nothing but bad things about it, and it's terrible crash test ratings which I think were near 2 starts on side impact even with airbags! I'm kinda suprised that the Ram does better than the silverado... what a difference a little geography can make in sales.

The CSV's sell in Canada because of the price. We have a short wheelbase model that sells for around 20k so it is competitive with the Caravan based on price. Honda and Toyota vans go for 30k.

WHY !!!! Because we needed a van for the family.. We fully support General Motors and after taking the Uplander out for a test drive we were satisfied this vehicle would do the trick. Fully loaded with the DVD package to keep the kids happy and quite on the long trips to their out of town baseball games. I am 100% happy with this van. Sorry to disappoint all those out there who hate the Uplander.
