By any chance do you work for GM marketing, sales are compared with the same month of last year

Canadian auto sales down, but Ford bucks the trend

No, but this is a GM site and I clearly state month over month in all my posts.

Month over month makes quite a bit more sense in the current economic environment. YoY we shall see all kinds of everything in the coming months.

Anyhow - go Chrysler! They are only some 200 units short of Toyota, and given they were out of their smaller cars due to CARS, I would expect them to easily beat Toyota next month restoring the Big Three pecking order at least in Canada.

Wow, that's a huge drop for Ford. I wonder why?

I am glad to see consistent sales for GM.

I would assume it is because of a lack of vehicles to sell. I was at one of the largest Ford dealerships in Calgary at the end of September with my dad looking at new vehicles. They only had two 2010 Escapes in stock (one XLT V6 and one Limited V6 AWD) and one 2009 Escape Hybrid.

The also only had three Fusions and one Taurus.

There seemed to be quite a lot of trucks though.

We all realize that sales are compared with the same month of last year. The recession last year makes comparing year to year monthly sales very misleading this time around. In the real world I still see GM outselling everyone (and trending upwards) and Ford sales with a downward trend.

No more employee pricing for everyone from Ford. Not a surprise to see the drop in sales.

Yeah because being the biggest volume seller saved GM from bankruptcy.

Yeah... so you're trying to spin a M2M sales increase as a bad thing.

Umm no, re-read the post i replied to and re-read my post...

I see the commom argument GM fans like to push now that GM went through bankruptcy is GM's total higher sales, they outsell everyone else, big deal!!

Haven't any of you learnt from history what is the most important aspects of how any auto company is managed? honestly...

Umm, I knew what you meant.

I wasn't serious. I was messing with you man.

The poster posted some relatively good news about GM (relative compared to the bad news we've seen elsewhere) and you reverted back to bankruptcy comments.

It's okay for us to talk about good news every now and then.

You don't have to be a Negative Nancy ALL THE TIME.
