Re: August Camaro sales stats. Outselling Mustang for third consecutive month.

Alright alright boys....take it easy take it easy.

Mustang is suckin wind with a new redesign, launched at the same time as Camaro.
Camaro is selling better then Mustang, thats a fact.

Ford is up for the month, GM is down. IMO, Ford is enjoying the fact that they stayed out of any government funded deals, and GM is suffering by having killed 4 brands, gone through a very public bankruptcy protection hearings, so its sales will be down because its losing half of its brands.
At this point, I would focus on the remaining healthy brands vs the competition.
How is Malibu vs Camry, Accord, Altima, and Fusion?
How did the Equinox do vs CRV, Rav4, Escape?
Trucks?
As of right now, the only real healthy part of GM is Chevrolet. Caddy has one car and a truck, Buick is full of old dead people, GMC is trying to sell 50k trucks in an poor economy and erratic gas prices, the rest are dead, dying or sold.

Units sold vs Units sold, year over year. GM still outsells Ford. And thats all that matters to me.

Oh yeah, the Challenger is sinking faster then the Titanic. Gap between Camaro and Mustang is near 2k now? So that means between Challenger and Mustang, still cant touch Camaro.

Oooh it feels good to be a Camaro fan.

I'm glad to see the Camaro selling well, better than the Mustang. The market wouldn't exist without the Mustang, so the Camaro owes its existence to Mustang, while being great competition, which benefits us all.

As it should! The Camaro is an all new car while the Mustang is a redesign of the car launched back in '05 with sales double than what the Camaro is doing now.

The Camaro is benefiting of two incontestable facts:

1. Its an all new design.
2. Its coming back from the grave where the Mustang sent it to, after a 5 year. Finally calming the thirst of a huge adoring fan base that is simply catching up after a long absence.

Still and despite being an all new car, the Camaro is over weight (which actually matters for a sport car) and out handled by the Mustang.

Enjoy it while it lasts, it wont be long . . .

Sales volume means zip if you aren't making money, same goes for GM being the highest seller globally, hence bankruptcy for GM.

Camaro is relaunched after being killed off and outsells mustang for a whole 3 months, why was the camaro killed off in the first place? while the mustang has remained on sales since it's original launch all those years ago...

Yeah lets see how the next 3 years pan out for all shall we.

You are annoying as $@#!

You don't see me going to a Mopar site and blabbing to them about why Chrysler sucks. I don't have the time to so that, hardly have enough time to stop in here. Get a life, or pay more attention to it.

Ford's both in the thread title and the initial post. FYI.

This thread isn't just "Camaro is selling well". It's "Camaro is selling better than Ford rival".

When Ford runs out the money of they got for their assets they mortgaged and beg Obama for cash. If Ford is being commended for not needing the gov't money, answer me one question. Why did Mulally go to D.C. with Rick and Nardelli???????

Obvious, yet so illusive to some.

Are you serious?

Ford won't run out of cash, wake up from your wet dream!
You should know the answer to your own question by now...

I am sorry you feel that way. I am simply stating my opinion (and a few facts) in a Mustang v. Camaro thread.

I didn't write Ford in the title of the thread. I didn't start the comparisons, but the invitation is clearly open . . .

I wouldn't know. I have never visited a Mopar site.

I have never said that the Camaro sucks, I have stated why I think the Camaro is outselling the Mustang and why I don't think it will last.

You are free to state your own opinion. Instead you resort to name calling, which somehow leads me to believe that deep down you agree with me.

To help them out. Its is clear that a collapse of the domestic auto industry would affect Ford much more adversely that a healthy GM and a healthy Chrysler . . . so, you are welcomed!

No wet dreams here. Cars don't get me that wound up.

It is not something that I want to have happen to them. In the long run they may have a disadvantage from going about business the way it should be, without help.

Working with the consumers first hand, the majority will forget the whole 2009 auto industry woes. Bailouts, Bankruptcy, slumps, etc... It is already started. People will buy the cars that they like. Government assisted or not.

Re: August Camaro sales stats. Outselling Mustang for third consecutive month.

As a lifetime Chevy and GM guy, I wish I could be happy for 'em, but I just can't. I don't like this new Camaro, and I don't think it's fair that they didn't revive the car to look like the ones that sold the best, which would be the '70 to '81, and the '82 to '92, my two favorites.

That Mustang is a mean machine. The Challenger ain't bad either.

Re: August Camaro sales stats. Outselling Mustang for third consecutive month.

Even at the peak of the pony car wars, the Mustang always outsold the Camaro, but the Camaro was always the better car:

350 vs 302 - Camaro

Handling - Camaro

Reliability/build quality - Camaro

Performance - Camaro, Camaro, Camaro

And yet more people always bought the Mustang. I believe because it has always been lower priced than a Camaro. I remember when a new Mustang GT fully loaded could be had for $15k and the Camaro Z28 was pushing $20k - early 1990's I think, last year of the hatchback fox body Mustangs. Even up to the last 4th gen Camaros in 2002, they were more expensive than similar trim/equiped Mustangs.

But today, GM has price the Camaro EXACTLY in the crosshairs of the Mustang - you equip a Mustang GT premium with the same equipment of a Camaro 2SS with RS package, and they are the same.

Hopefully GM and Ford get the inventories up but too a decent level and gain on the imports. This is hard for me to include Chrysler on this statement since their offerings are pretty bad. The new 300 and Grand Cherokee should help.
