Re: Camaro Beats Crap Out Of Mustang, Challenger For Fourth Straight Month

The new title of the thread is very very classy. Very fitting with the cockiness that arises from desperation. . .

I have no doubt that if/when Mustang outsells Camaro for a month you will shout it from the rooftops and be very cocky about it despite the fact that you actually had nothing to do with it.

LOL. Cockiness.....says the guy with a Ford Avatar on a GM website.

Look, the Mustang is an okay car. Thats it. The reason it sold so good from 2003-2010 was....wait for it....wait for it.....Lack of competition.

Its hard to buy a new Camaro when there isnt one being produced, so obviously people will sway to someone who makes a product they want/need/desire.

As for Ford being a better run company....who gives a ****? Honestly? How many threads do you see from GM fans touting that GM was the #1 car company in the world for like 70 something years? Honestly? Can you link me to any that were posted in anything but a GM based site?

Mustangs will always be second banana to the Camaro. Thats why you guys (ford fans) come to websites that have nothing to do with your cars.

I dont care what you say about GM/Camaros on the little mustang sites that get about 15 posts a day. Go play with your little friends and be happy that your GT mustang is still able to keep up with a Civic.

BTW. The mustang may handle better with the track pack, but in a race it would still lose. Wins and loses are all that matters. Anywho, throw a swaybar and some springs on the camaro and let me know what happens to those handling performance gaps.

How can you honestly even believe that? I have never heard anyone say either car is ugly unless they are hardcore fans of either side.

Your opinion has little basis on reality. While looks are subjective, neither car ever gets dinged for poor looks so even if the camaro is better looking, it is not by much. Definately, not the 2-3k in sales per month that it has been leading the mustang by.

If looks are going to be your argument as to why it is selling better, then what about the interior of both cars? The mustang generally is regarded as having a better looking interior. So your only real argument is based on exterior looks.

We will just have to agree to disagree then if that is your only reasoning as to why the camaro has been selling better because your logic doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

You don't understand simple economics if you really believe in the Comparison you made of Mustang selling 10,000 units in '05-'06 to the Camaro selling 8,000 in '09. The Camaro is in an bad economy, and being 2,000 units less when an company is recovering from bankruptcy compared to a healthy company of Ford competing against barely anyone in the pony car category, during a surplus economy at the time of the Mustang's unveiling, I'd say the Camaro is doing better off then the Mustang at that time. In the '09 Model Year, it is apparent the Camaro reigns supreme in every category.

You have to be completely biased to believe this. You have won the HANDLING sub-category of the PERFORMANCE category, but this wouldn't be if Mustang had to add a track pack. Let's not forget this is stupid, since give the Camaro an actual track and it will still beat the mustang. The only way the Mustang would beat a Camaro in a track race would be one mostly made of curves, but everyone knows that isn't the true test of a vehicle's performance. In everything, the Camaro has shown its looks matches its power.

I don't think he's saying Mustang is ugly (or uglier). However Camaro certainly has the freshest look and the "Gotta Have It" factor going for it right now.

My guess is that very few people waving wads of cash at Chevy dealers have seriously evaluated the Mustang. People aren't comparing interiors or ride quality or engines or race performance; they want to be the first guy on their block with the sexiest new car.

Eventually this will cool down and the market for both cars will level out. The people predicting existential doom for the Mustang are getting a little ahead of themselves.

And insurance is dirt cheap. I just got a new quote that will get me out of my current SS and into a black one. For being 23, $145 per month really is not bad.

EXACTLY. We all like to write here and think people critically evaluate all the competition. It doesn't work that way. It especially doesn't work that way with cars like this. These cars are about PASSION. They are about style and projecting an image. If people want speed, they buy the V8 version - they don't buy the competing vehicle. They buy the vehicle they feel a bond with how it looks.

I remember a study once ( I can't find it, but I'll keep looking ) that something like less than 10% of Mustang or Camaro owners have EVER driven an opposing Mustang or Camaro.

Who really gives a crap about which one is a few 10ths faster around a track or in the quarter? The vast majority of these are daily drivers. You got a track in your backyard? I don't know about you guys, but I run a quarter every day on the way to work. Yeah right. Both look fast and sound fast. That's most of it right there.

Wow. My family must be in the minority then. Kinda sad actually because there are plenty of things to like in each car. If I had to choose between a Camaro, Mustang, or Challenger for myself I could make a decision, but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't still find interest in the ones I didn't pick.

Yup, I agree - I've driven both, and while I have a preference truth be told it's not that strong of one on the merits of the drive.

That's good to hear - I was a little worried the previous car's reputation with insurance companies would carry over.

I can believe it. There was a similar study posted about pickup truck buyers - they tend to be very brand loyal and don't cross-shop much. There's Ford Men and Chevy Men, and that's what make the argument so great, because it will never be settled.

I went to the local Chevy dealer tonight. 3 Camaros in stock. 2 had $2k ADM added to the price and one only had $1k, but it was $42k. All 3 had the $200 paint protection, too.
