Camaro Beats Crap Out Of Mustang, Challenger For Fourth Straight Month

Just posted on http://www.camaro5.com

Production Stats:
Camaros produced in August 09: 10,682
Total Camaros produced to date (since March 16, 2009): 43,373

Delivery (sales) Stats:
Camaro August Deliveries (sales): 8,680
Total April - August Deliveries: 31,190

Mustang stats:
August Deliveries: 6,289

Wonder how long the Camaro can continue to outsell the Mustang. The gap this month is bigger than last months so this is a good sign

Stats source - http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40319

Re: August Camaro sales stats. Outselling Mustang for third consecutive month.

If you also take into consideration that with the Camaro you only have 2 choices where as with the Mustang you have 6 choices its even more impressive.

With GM down 20.1% in August year over year this may be the only good news.

People seems to forget that all of the brands were down and the boost was due to CARS program. To top it off GM and Chrysler were running out of vehicles, considering that GM was selling the most under the C4C program until they started to run out of vehicles.

They are down to 379,000 vehicles in their inventory which means overall they have less then a 60 selling day supply (at 200,000 sales a month).

At least there's one thing to be happy about.

Even better when you compare it to Challenger sales...

1,132 Challengers sold...

You seem to forget that Ford sales were UP for the month of July, so August would be their second month in a row posting sales gains.

The Camaro may be outselling the Mustang, but keep in mind two things:

1. The Camaro is not doing better than what Mustang was at this time last year and anywhere near as good as what the Mustang was doing in '05 when the current generation was launched. In August 2005 for example, Ford sold 10,921 Mustangs . . .

2. The initial enthusiasm will eventually die down. And then, what? if the initial enthusiasm wasn't anywhere as strong as the Mustang's was when the current generation was launched . . .

In 2005, the country wasn't gripped in a recession and the economy didn't suck.

How did Ford get in this?

Its a Down market and the Camaro doesn't have a full year of sales with only 1 body style and 2 engine choices to pick from................. Its not the best market to launch a new vehicle into.

Why do these Ford fans have to be such tools?

And what do you have to resort to name calling every time you read something you don't like . . . ?

Agreed. Nothing happening right now in auto industry can be compared to '05. That's foolishness.

I will only bring up Ford, since you brought up Chrysler.

Ford, currently, has a 36 day supply of vehicles. Thus, low inventory isn't a GM and Chrysler exclusive. Thus, one could say, if GM, Chrysler, and Ford had more inventory, they could have sold more vehicles, under C4C.

Source.

You do realize that it wasn't you who brought up Ford and Ford was brought up in a completely unrelated way...... why did you even respond to my post?

GM was very low on inventory before C4C program started BTW.
