Maybe the Grand Prix..but I think the Impala is still a great investment. I'm sure they are continuing to either hold fleet sales steady or reduce them for that model.

I think it would make an impact..if someone sees quite a few impalas on the road and they look at this report, they might start becoming interested enough to take a serious look. "It out-sales the Honda Accord..it's must be good!"

Very true. All of the cop cars in Ontario are Impalas.

Only if you care about keeping up with the "Jones". Really, the Impala is great bang for the buck. The GP is a little different of a story.

You forget that Daimler was the owner of Chrysler. So if the styling and quality isn't that good you have to go straight to the top and ask why. If Tom LaSorda is so bad at managing Chrysler then why didn't The good Doctor get rid of him and get some one else to run Chrysler. They took Chrysler for a ride and then dumped them when times got a little rough. After all it was Chrysler that saved Daimler ass when they weren't making any money. This all goes to show that Daimler lied when they originally said it was a partnership of equals.

But all of it can be traced directly to Daimler. Before the exodus of pissed-off talent following the "merger" and Germans' attitude that came with it, Chrysler was on a roll... (the planet's most profitable automaker back then, actually).

I don't see any reason why the successful team that was in place and running the show at the time (with amazing success... witness ChryCo's ~1998 lineup!) would have decided spontaneously to start messing things up around Y2K...

Yep, and all of these bodies have one point in common: they all want trouble-free cars. In other words, they replace their fleet vehicles pretty often, and their ex-vehicles end up on the used car market.

Re: Best Selling Sedans of May, 2007

Something to remember, the Impala's fleet sales are not equal to other fleet sales because a large portion of their fleet sales are not to rental fleets. Impala's are GM's police cruiser and I've been seeing a lot of them down here throughout the state as new police vehicles. GM's not giving up those fleet sales because they're profitable and because they don't impact resale or public perception negatively like rental fleets. The Impala is also a workhorse now for government across the country. I would guess that a bulk of the fleet sales are government sales and not rental fleets. The previous Impala was more of a renter king but GM has really expanded into gov't with this newer car.

Maybe in the US, but in Ontario, most cop cars are still the rounded rear tail light Impalas. Most cops will tell you they are reliable cars.

There are still a few Caprices rolling around my area, one with Impala SS wheels. The Impalas are about as reliable as the Crown Victoria, but they are more expensive to repair as transmissions are the most usual items items to go and it's easier to pull the transmission on a RWD car.

Well, the fleet numbers on the Impala are no doubt an atrocity.

Re: Best Selling Sedans of May, 2007

Impala must have had a big taxi and police car month, and if that is sedan only, there is a 2 door Camry and Accord, that pump up their over all numbers.
