Those results make it embarrassing to drive a new Impala and even more embarrassing to drive a new Grand Prix.

i'm pretty sure this is just "family" sedans. Corolla, Civic, Cobalt, and Focus all sell in volumes comprable to many of these cars, and their hatch/coupe variants can't possibly be that large of a percentage for them to not make it. but i'm not sure about the Malibu... i too would think it'd qualify, but i don't know the exact numbers for it.

I like the Impala, and I think it is way under rated. It is great bang for the buck, and I like the understated styling. Its a roomy and quiet ride.

Re: Best Selling Sedans of May, 2007

I think they meant the top-10 selling midsize sedans. That's the only common thread between them. (are Chrysler's LX cars considered mid or full size?)

The thing to remember about the Impala's fleet sales is they aren't just to rental fleets, they also sell quite a few to law enforcement, federal, state and local governments as well as corporations.

You can thank the execs at Damiler for that one...

I'm not sure what retail sales are like around the rest of the country but here in Chicago, and in my neighborhood in paticular, we have 5 new Impalas. 3 of which or the SS's. I feel the LS and lower line LT's are going into fleet while the higher LT's, LTZ and SS's are going retail.

The models designed and luanched under the old-style Daimler management of Chrysler include the LXs. The Caliber, Sebring/Avenger etc. are more like Tom LaSorda children. Stop blaming Daimler for everything. There is also inherent incompetency within Chrysler themselves.

I just wanted to say that. I think that GM shifted RENTAL fleet sales to the Grand Prix, but not the desirable corpo/government fleet sales.

As concerns LaC/GP - if you didn't know, you wouldn't think the LaC was a priority investment for GM, would you?

Re: Best Selling Sedans of May, 2007

Since Charger and 300 are doing quite well, a RWD Impala may be up to the job after all. Of course, GM has to advertise the hell out of the new Malibu, if the new Impala moves to RWD.
However, the fleet only big FWD Cevy looks like a good idea. I remeber reading here that GM was considering a FWD big sedan for fleet only. This would mean that the new Malibu, the G8 and the next RWD Impala would sell mostly retail. This is the way to go.

Yes, Pontiac having a V8 Muscle Car would get them on the top ten best selling SEDANS of May, 2007. I cant beleive I responded to this...

Same here. I drive 20 miles to and from Baton Rouge, LA, and the Impala is one ofthe most common sights on the road. I've said it before... I'm in my early 20's and if I were looking for a new car, I'd have to give the Impala a go because I am a fan of its styling. Btw, those Impalas are not rentals.

Re: Best Selling Sedans of May, 2007

I'm a little confused by the Impala. Fleet sales are not going up on it, they are going down. So retail has got to be where these things are going. Maybe people are starting to see that the Impala is a good value compared to the Camcord? For your basic transportation, the Impala is a great car.
