Re: August 2007 Sales - All Manufacturers

Did you guys notice what happened to the Magnum?
-Down 36% for the year and 79% in August

And for that matter the 300 is down 15% for the year and 23% for the month

The Pacifica, Liberty, Grand Cherokee, Dakota and Durango also fell through the floor.

Cerberus better not wait too long. Though if you're in the market I bet you'll see some real cash on the hood in a couple of months.

I think the Chrysler implosion is right around the corner. Cerberus knows as much about cars as I do about Plasma Physics...

Pretty lame that Toyota doesn't break out the Matrix.

Look at the weak dodge truck sales. Yes the writing is on the wall for chrysler.

What's more laughable are you three.

Dodge hasn't made the Viper since the 2006 model year ended.

I don't find anything funny about a "domestic" manufacturer suffering that much.

Seems like as soon as gas prices drop, people ditch the dinky cars and hop right into an Escalade.
The Yaris was a newly introduced model last year. It's not uncommon for vehicles to have fairly steep drops in the second year (although 31%, ouch).

Yet, the Fit is up 160%?

That Magnum figure is odd-but Chrysler is up overall.

Chrysler is also different from Ford and GM in that thier car sales are doing better than thier truck/SUV sales (with Ford and GM, it's the opposite).

In fact, everybody other than Ford and GM is having car sales do better than truck sales. Now, some of this might be due to less car rental sales, but Ford and GM might get into the trap of being known as being almost exclusively truck/SUV companies when the market is moving towards cars. GM at least has several new cars coming out (new Malibu, new CTS, G8, Astra). I don't think Ford has any significant cars coming out any time soon.

So you're saying they had only one Viper in inventory?

The Fit has always been supply limited (that is, they could sell more if they built more). The Yaris was never like that. Maybe they are getting more Fits to the dealers.

Freestyle -49.9% Magnum -36% V70 -58.4%

Suffice to say GM probably won't be bringing over the Vectra wagon (Aura) or G8 wagon any time soon.....sighhhhhh
