Voice Diagnostic System?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oldsmob...gnostic_System

According to wikipedia, the Eighty Eight of 1986 had a system that would give warning messages by voice. Has anyone encountered this? I haven't

Not that I remember. My dad had one and I remember that car vividly for being 5. (and our Pontiac STE.. miss that car.) But I certainly do not remember voices.

Re: Voice Diagnostic System?

I know some cars back in the mid-late '80s had voices, but I'm not sure of the Oldsmobile. Back when my parents bought their '88 Maxima wagon the dealer had an '87 in the showroom with voice chimes. In the 1986 movie 'Tough Guys' they made fun of it with Dana Carvey's character's Corolla.

Re: Voice Diagnostic System?

It was the 1986 Oldsmobile Toronado:

The fourth and, as it proved, final generation ran from 1986 to 1992. It was smaller, used a unibody construction, and was the first Toronado since 1969 to feature hidden headlights. V8s were gone, and the Buick 231 in³ (3.8 L) LN3 V6 was the only powerplant.

Inside, a new digitalized instrument panel and optional voice alert system were employed and the same luxury trappings were offered as standard equipment and options as before.
