Video: Buick Grand National Engine Build

I thought this might be interesting to some people here. I'm working with an engine builder to cover his build of a turbo V6 to go into a Buick T-type. It's following the theme of the old T-type/Grand National engines in that its a V6 with a single turbo, but everything has been modernized and upgraded. The target for this motor is 700-plus horsepower. The first part in this series is up at:

Please check it out and let me know what you think.
Thanks

Re: Video: Buick Grand National Engine Build

If anyone is interested, I just wanted to let you know I finally got the second video of that engine build posted. I'd love your feedback if anyone gets a chance to check it out. You can find it here.
Thanks

Re: Video: Buick Grand National Engine Build

It has taken longer than I thought, but I've just posted the third video in this buildup. This time it's the cylinder heads and valvetrain, and I think there is some pretty trick stuff here. Hope to have the engine on the dyno next week. If anyone is interested you can find the video at www.streetmuscleaction.com. Thanks!

Nice build, I've always had a thing for turbo Buicks. Can't wait to see some dyno numbers!

Re: Video: Buick Grand National Engine Build

Brings back good memories.......I had a 1986 T-Type SFI Turbo in dark metallic blue.
It took a while for people to realize it was the same car as the GN.....actually lighter because of the alloy wheels vs. chrome steel wheels on the GN.

Thanks, I think KT Engines is planning to get it up on the dyno this weekend if they can get a couple hoses and other odds-and-ends rounded up.

bout once a generation, Buick awakens, staggers out of its crypt, and produces a kick-butt performance package that attracts living, breathing, flesh-and-blood hot rodders back into its showrooms. Unfortunately, like a groundhog that's seen its shadow, Buick inevitably shuffles sleepily back into hibernation, ushering in a new Dark Age and leaving yet another generation of Buick performance acolytes slowly twisting in the wind.

Hopefully its about that time. Maybe Buick will steal the Opel Insignia OPC, 2.8L Turbo V6, 325 hp, AWD....it's a no brainer, Buick!!!

Re: Video: Buick Grand National Engine Build

Sorry I still don't have results yet. We tried getting the engine on the dyno but the intake manifold the owner had purchased used off the net was bad. Power numbers also weren't up to his expectations, even with only minimal boost, so he's purchased a new throttle body to go with a different intake. Hopefully, we will have dyno results soon, and I'll let you know how things turn out.

Re: Video: Buick Grand National Engine Build

Sorry, the website blew up on me a couple weeks ago. In the process of fixing it, my web guru did something to change the permalinks and the link I gave originally no longer works. Here's a good link if anyone is interested:

http://streetmuscleaction.com/engines/buick-gnx/

By the way, the engine is now in the car and I'm just waiting on final dyno numbers to finish up. The owner is sending the car to Florida (from NC) to a tuner he knows. Hoping to get this series finished up soon.
