I like it! It's clean, not overdone.
Buick also did the GSX one last time in 2003!
3.8 supercharged they also had SLP folks do a Stage 1 -2- or 3 engine performance package on them.

I thought the GTO was sad with it's 350, but at least it had a Pontiac engine with a 4 bl. That 350 2 bl. Buick would make the GTO seem fast. Those were sad days unless you had a 455 Pontiac, make mine a Super Duty please!

LOL!
I have a nice stout Olds 455 sitting in the corner of my garage.
Always pondered the thought of dropping it in my Lemans for a
bit of burnout playtime!
A easy plug n play drop in.................
Nice Lemans! Well the Olds would be better then a Chevy! I know a guy who ruined (IMO) his 66 GTO by putting a B.B. Chevy in it.

With the '74 GTO its said since the 350 Pontiac engine was too heavly to compete with the 350 Chevy engine, but the Chevy 400 wasn't as solid or hot as Pontiac's 400. They just as easily could have installed a 455 SD - even a standard 4bbl dual pipe 455 would've done wonders. Seems like a totally logical move that should have happened

Well, the 455 Super Duty was supposed to be available across the board in '73, but Pontiac management pulled the plug at the last minute, and the Trans Am/Formula was the only car that got it. It was supposed to be available in the GTO, the new Grand Am, Grand Prix, and I assume the Le Mans Sport (you could get all the GTO options by then in the regular Le Mans without specifying the GTO package). Maybe it would have been available in the Ventura too, but I don't know. That would have made the '74 Ventura GTO a lot more interesting.
The Buick GSX should have received the 455 Stage 1, but I would argue they shouldn't have offered it in the Apollo. It should have been a Century GSX.

Wow that was a sad car from the factory to wear that badge. You would have at least thought they could have thrown in the sport wheel, a set of guages, sport suspension and a 4 BBL carb on the Buick 350 to have made it somewhat better than the other versions. They did a better job on the 78 on up A/G body cars such as the W-30 Hurst which at least has a 350 4BBL, suspension and tires upgrade, buckets and guages etc to back up the appearance. The new for 78 Regal sport coupes touted the then new turbo 3.8 and handling suspension along with more gauges and sport mirrors and the Grand Prix SJ had the same equipment as the W-30 but with the smaller 301 4BBL engine and better gears.
The 1974 Buick GSX was indeed a paper tiger however it did have a V8. I think the worst case of a car wearing a muscle car era badge and not living up to the name of that badge was the 1980 AMC AMX, it was a 4.2 liter I6 with only 110 net horsepower about a 1/3 of the total horsepower of the 390 CID V8 powered first generation AMX:
