    The Last Oldsmobile Diesel V6 and V8 Engines (1985)

    Does anyone here remember, exactly, when GM killed the diesel program at its (defunct) Oldsmobile Division? We know for certain the last model year of the 5.7L V8 (LF9) and the 4.3L V6 (LT6, LT7 and LS2) diesels was 1985 but, what I want to know is, what the exact date production had ceased (say, January 1985 or August 1985).

    I'd also like to know what the highest serial # was as to the (original production, not Goodwrench/remanufactured crate engines) two diesels.

    Engine RPO codes:
    LT6 = 4.3L V6, for RWD cars (G body only)
    LT7 = 4.3L V6, for FWD cars (A body only)
    LS2 = 4.3L V6, for FWD cars (C body only)
    LF9 = 5.7L V8, for RWD cars (B,C,D,G,K bodies) and FWD cars (E,K bodies)

    1985 model year cars with Oldsmobile diesel power:

    LeSabre, LeSabre Estate, Electra Estate (B) (LF9)
    Riviera (E) (LF9)
    Regal (G) (LF9)
    Century (A) (LT7)
    Electra/Park Avenue (C) (LS2)

    Fleetwood Brougham (C/RWD) (LF9)
    Eldorado (E) (LF9)
    Seville (K) (LF9)
    DeVille, Fleetwood (C/FWD) (LS2)

    Caprice/Impala (B) (LF9)
    Celebrity (A) (LT7)

    Delta 88, Custom Cruiser (B) (LF9)
    Cutlass Supreme (G) (LF9)
    Toronado (E) (LF9)
    Cutlass Ciera (A) (LT7)
    Ninety-Eight (C) (LS2)

    Parisienne (B) (LF9)
    6000 (A) (LT7)

    The following Olds diesel-powered cars bit the dust after 1984:

    Monte Carlo, El Camino (G) (LF9)

    Bonneville, Grand Prix (G) (LF9)

    Thank you,

    Benjamin "Ben" Edge (ClassicTVMan1981X)

    Hi Ben,

    I have not seen any type of registry for the diesels.
    Everyone was so eager to get rid of them I don't know of
    any place such records were kept.

    F14Crazy is correct Diesel El Caminos were rare but, now a diesel
