Help IDing some 60s-ish GMs

Spotted these three over the last few months, but never got close enough to see the badges. Could someone tell me their year and model, and any interesting things about these cars?

1.

2.

3.

Thanks.

Nitpick: "GMs" means nothing. You need to say, "GM cars;" otherwise you're just saying, "Help me ID some General Motors." Sounds like you're a bit dim in the noggin (same to others who say it that way).

ANYWAY, I'll start with the interesting factoid. This was Cadillac's attempt at "retro" in the 1970s. They incorporated several design cues from the 1959 Cadillac. Note: the "V" badging, the sloping line in the rear fender, the gilled look of the front fender reflector (and its placement), and the horizontal style line coming back from the headlights on the fenders--just some of the cues lifted from the much celebrated earlier model. Actually, the 1972 model's "retro" touches were slightly more overt.

It's a 1973, btw.

Do you also refuse to say "BMWs"?

Re: Help IDing some 60s-ish GMs

#2 appears to be a 1974 LeSabre, without seeing the front all that good, but that's what I gather fron the taillights & front sidemarker...

The bottom is a 1967 Cutlass...

Those are my "guesses"...considering how many here @ GMI rate my opinions!!!!!

In that case, their cars actually are called BMW's. GM doesn't make a car with the GM name. GM Escalade? Nope. It's just the corporation name.

F-85 is the lower trim model of the Cutlass. It might also be a 66. Here is my reason. The ports and trim look very close to the picture below.

That's pretty silly. GM's products: GMs, not General Motorses. BMW's products: BMWs, not Bavarian Motor Workses. Does it really matter what name they're sold under?

If a Lexus is a Toyota, a Buick is a GM. (And there's no "if" about it.)

Ummmm, I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you a little bit here, no one did retro in the 1970's Cadillac had used that same V and crest emblem to distingush all lower end cars from Fleetwood series cars, which used the common wreath and crest design, from 1963 to 1985, when all Cadillacs got the wreath and crest as the standard emblem. The Cadillac V and crest was on all Cadillacs before 1963, though every year until 1962 it would get progressively wider and wider until they were almost unrecognizable. The 1973 version of the standard Cadillac, which this is, is mostly a refresh of the 1971-1972 Cadillacs, they just grew crash bumpers front and rear. The 1971 Cadillac was the first year for this new bodystyle, it had the cornering lamps in the same position as this 1973 does, that area has always been where Cadillac placed its cornering lamps, eversince they introduced cornering lamps to the market in 1962. These cars were all new, though yes they are conservative and they are styled to be instantly recognizable as a Cadillac, so some familiar cues and hints can be seen.

But yes, this is a 1973 Cadillac sedan, either a Calais sedan or a Sedan DeVille, it could be a Calais juding from the lack of a vinyl top.

The 2nd green car is a 1974 Buick LeSabre coupe.

Judging from the looks of the cars and house, I would say that the owners skeleton is sitting in an easy chair in the living room with the TV still on.

The 3rd car is a 1966 Oldsmobile Cutlass sport coupe, non hardtop. It also appears to be a 442 from the badges on the back.

Not really, the F-85 and the Cutlass were available at the same time, the Cutlass was the high end version of Oldsmobiles compact, just like the Skylark was the high end version of the Special and the the LeMans was to the Temepest, originally they were all their own high end verions of the 1961 compacts. Oldsmobile used the F85 designation all the way into the early 70's to as the "base" Cutllass.

You should read the issue of Collectible Automobile that dealt with these cars. There was a definitive effort to impart stylistic touches of the 1959s on the Caddys from the early '70s.

"Judging from the looks of the cars and house, I would say that the owners skeleton is sitting in an easy chair in the living room with the TV still on."

The driveway has older and older cars in worse and worse shape between the garage and the street, and probably skeletal 50s cars in the garage. Present but not pictured are an 80s LTD Crown Victoria, an 80s Ram pickup, and a clean 02-05 Explorer XLT.

Not contrary at all. I used the present tense.
