Classic Cars - Classic Songs

marinerbc made a very astute observation that people just don't write songs about Toyotas.

There's just no passion, no soul, no feeling.
There's just nothing to love about Toyota.

But people do write classic songs about classic North American Cars.

So here's the challenge - The first person in the thread provides the lyrics.
The next person to post needs to

1. correctly identify the vehicle
2. correctly identify the song
3. provide the next set of lyrics that mention a classic car (or an attribute such as an engine size).

Some will be obvious.
Others may not be.
Let the fun begin.

Re: Classic Cars - Classic Songs

There are several obscene hip-hop songs with that line. RL. South Central Cartel. NWA. Dr. Dre. They are talking about Chevys.

How about this one:

My "love" is bigger than a Honda, bigger than a Subaru.

I don't know that "rollin in my '64" one, and I think I should for some reason. Time to hit the books, since a google search would be cheating.

EDIT: I found the correct reference I believe, but I would never post anything regarding that composition in a public forum.

Re: Classic Cars - Classic Songs

Have you heard this story of the Hot Rod Race
When Fords and Lincolns was settin' the pace
That story is true, I'm here to say
I was drivin' that Model A

It's got a Lincoln motor and it's really souped up
That Model A body makes it look like a pup
It's got eight cylinders, uses them all
It's got overdrive, just won't stall

With a 4-barrel carb and a dual exhaust
With 4.11 gears you can really get lost
It's got safety tubes, but I ain't scared
The brakes are good, tires fair

Pulled out of San Pedro late one night
The moon and the stars was shinin' bright
We was drivin' up Grapevine Hill
Passing cars like they was standing still

All of a sudden in a wink of an eye
A Cadillac sedan passed us by
I said, "Boys, that's a mark for me"
By then the tail light was all you could see

Now the fellas was ribbin' me for bein' behind
So I thought I'd make the Lincoln unwind
Took my foot off the gas and man alive
I shoved it on down into overdrive

Wound it up to a hundred-and-ten
My speedometer said that I hit top end
My foot was glued like lead to the floor
That's all there is and there ain't no more

Now the boys all thought I'd lost my sense
And telephone poles looked like a picket fence
They said, "Slow down! I see spots!
The lines on the road just look like dots"

Took a corner, sideswiped a truck
Crossed my fingers just for luck
My fenders was clickin' the guardrail posts
The guy beside me was white as a ghost

Smoke was comin' from out of the back
When I started to gain on that Cadillac
Knew I could catch him, I thought I could pass
Don't you know by then we'd be low on gas

We had flames comin' from out of the side
Feel the tension, man, what a ride!
I said, "Look out, boys, I've got a license to fly"
And that Caddy pulled over and let us by

Now all of a sudden she started to knockin'
And down in the dips she started to rockin'
I looked in my mirror; a red light was blinkin'
The cops was after my Hot Rod Lincoln

They arrested me and they put me in jail
And called my pappy to throw my bail
And he said,

Hot rod Lincoln.

I find it funny that back then, a hot rod doing 110 was really [scarily] on the edge of its capabilities.

An Aveo can get close to that these days with the a/c on and the driver yakkin' on the cell phone.

Re: Classic Cars - Classic Songs

'Hey Little Cobra' by the Rip Chords - Shelby Cobra - "I took my Cobra down to the track, Hitched to the back of my Cadillac"

'Mustang Sally" by Wilson Pickett - Ford Mustang - "I bought you a brand new Mustang, A nineteen sixty-five"

'One Piece At A Time' by Johnny Cash - Cadillac - "Well, I left Kentucky back in '49, And went to Detroit workin' on a 'sembly line, The first year they had me puttin' wheels on Cadillacs; Every day I'd watch them beauties roll by, And sometimes I'd hang my head and cry, 'Cause I always wanted me one that was long and black"

Not really classics:

'Burbans and Lacs' by Master P - Chevrolet Suburban & Cadillac - "This is for the Burbans and the Cadillacs, With the 10's and the 12's bumpin in the back"

'Ridin' The Chevy' by Three 6 Mafia - Chevrolet - "We finally got a warm day it's clean in January, See as I hopped out my drop top once again we rollin' Chevy"
