I know that in the later ones, the badges on the body of the car were usually body color, with the "FLEETWOOD" letters in silver, the body ones are block letters and one on the "c" pillar is cursive, and reads out "Fleetwood Brougham"(or d' Elegance or Talisman). Fuel injected cars would have a "Fuel Injection" emblem on the lower passenger side of the trunklid, under the Fleetwood emblem.


Here is a line to a really nice, claimed 5,000 mile Brougham that sold for $25k here in FLA.

A close friend of mine is a long time General Motors General Manager first for over 35 years at Oldsmobile then after the Brand closed, he moved to Cadillac where he stayed until his retirement 2 years ago. When I asked about cost projection, we used a 1976 Fleetwood Brougham de Elegance as an example: It sold for $11359.00 in 1976, he indicated that the materials (steel, chrome, sound insulation) would cost about $100K today. This person is very sharp, as he has made several fortunes in RE and on EBay, I trust his evaluations.

My step-Dad had a standard Brougham in this color combination many years ago. He sold it to some guy that drooled over it in a parking lot one afternoon for more than he paid for it.

Years later, I bought him a 76 with 20K miles from a friend in Tulsa and suprised him with it. It was a standard Brougham, all dark blue with a stiped velour interior. I loved my step Dad.

We can neither confirm or deny the existance of said Fleetwood Brougham, I was never here.....

I recall that there are a several years of records that are not available due to them being on some sort of obsolete punch card computer system that no one services anymore.

My step-Dad had a stanard Brougham in this color combination many years ago. He sold it to some guy that drooled over it in parking lot one afternoon for more than he paid for it.

Years later, I bought him a 76 with 20K miles from a friend in Tulsa and suprised him with it. It was a standard Brougham, all dark blue with a stiped velour interior. I loved my step Dad.

It is awesome!

I would not want one with such low miles though, I intend on driving it, not 100k a year or anything, but paying a premium for low miles, only to start putting miles on it, nahhhh. I will find a nice 50k to 70K mile Brougham for less, with those miles on them they still are like brand new.


I always liked these and they 2 door counterparts, the Fleetwood Eldorado, they really represent the last gasp of "bigger is better America", the "why let one pound of steel do the job when 5 pounds can do it just as well and more smoothly" mentality that is sooooo long gone now. Handling? Who cares about that?(though seriously, they are not as bad as you might think), we want ride!, the roads are flat and straight, set the cruise control and let the car do the work.

I did a bit of photoshopping and turned a standard brougham into a likely variations, a Fleetwood Brougham convertible. I dont know whether they exist or not, also including a Fleetwood Brougham Coupe and the Station Wagon. Wow, what a range that would be.

I have that brochure, but there is only 5 pages dedicated to the Fleetwood Brougham. I was hoping that there would be some pictures that I havent seen yet. Although the pictures are richly toned, I was told that the rear of the florentine gold features chrome as standard on the rear wings, something my fleetwood doesnt have. Trying to find a set on ebay is impossible. I did see an NOS left hand chrome fender cover which went for 100 dollars. Ive emailed a parts brochure from www.opgi.com which covers 1954-1976 Cadillac.

When I was growing up, my Mom had a similar car in Cotillion White with Light Blue Metallic Elk Grain Roof and Antique Light Blue Leather Interior--these were really dignified motoring! These beauties make me twinge for the days when Cadillac designed such luxurious, spacious automobiles! There is lots of detail and embellishment that made riding in one of these cars a memorable experience. "Getting there" was always an event of its own!

I own one with 37k miles, it is traveling at its finest . Will the new upcoming
XTS be any thing close to statment what this mid 1970 Cadillac are .

It is a strange mentality to be sure! Today, people drive the most miles on Interstate highways, limited-access roads, etc and the pavement is very good. If anything it should have been back then "handling" and today "ride"!

Especially in the 1950's, most driving was done on very narrow, unlimited-access 2-lane roads, with sharp curves, bankings the wrong way, dangerous intersections...

Today you can set your cruise control in Florida and the gentle curves on I-95 and etc will let you go to sleep and wake up in New York City, buried in the rear end of a Crown Vic taxi (ah traffic )

As much as I like my '79, there is no comparison to the '76. Every component is overbuilt on the older car, the ride is better and the interior is so much nicer.
