Re: 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado

Thanks for firing up the Wayback machine, EPA.

I loved the 66 Toronado, it was one helluvva breakthrough car IMO.
About all it lacked was a set of humma-humma 4-wheel discs. I believe it got front discs in 67.

Overall a great car, and watching it decline (as you can with so many GM products) should be an object lesson for GM.

Unfortunately MBAs seem to have a horizontal learning curve and since engineers don't run GM, we'll continue to observe sad stories such as the decline and fall of the extraordinary Toronado.

Re: 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado

It can't be a real car because it's front wheel drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I had a dime for everytime I heard that from someone, I'd have at least mgescuro's net worth in the bank!!!!

They also made excellent winter drivers as I've been told.

I test drove the 1967 Oldsmobile Toronado when I was 16, it was "Large and in Charge." Front wheel drive was actually good driving in that car.

...By the way, check out my Thread in: GM Inside Forum>Discussions Area about What was your "Best Car/Rides." Ever

I read that though it wouldn't oversteer, it handled about the same as other comparable cars of the time.
