Re: Yet another wonderful visit to the local GM service dept!

I hope mine is as pleasant. I am going to have the transmission flushed and the wiper motor replaced.

I am sure it will be all dandy until I see the bill. I'll write a letter if they don't suck too bad. This is the last time (hopefully) that I will bring my car to a Louisiana dealer. I am moving away soon. So sad....

Before you say it, Sonoma, Maggio's is too far away for now. I'll give them a holler when I need to buy, but for what they are charging for full size trucks, I am leaning towards an H3 with the Adventure package.

LOL, I'm that bad, huh?

We have service customers that come from as far a 60 miles away for regular service!

Re: Yet another wonderful visit to the local GM service dept!

I have seen a real turn around in chevy service over the past 4 or 5 years. My husband and I ONLY buy chevrolet. The service writers seem more friendly, caring and listen to what you have to say. I have even had mine call me and follow-up personally about my service. I appreciate that and that is a big reason I stay true to Chevrolet.

Keep up the good work guys, your customers really appreciate it!!

Re: Yet another wonderful visit to the local GM service dept!

OK, I have to be dumb and ask this. What exactly is done in a "chassis lube"? I think I know what should be done, but isn't this kind of a vestigial service left over from 50 years ago when cars really needed this kind of thing? Aren't a lot of joints lubed internally now or use flexibly plastic polymers and mounts instead of lubed metal to metal contact points?

I often watch the oil change services I get, sometimes at a local Jiffy lube close to work, and I never see them with a little oil can ala the Tin Man going around and lubing anything. Where is the lubrication performed? I've even watched the people under the car and never see them doing anything aside from the oil filter changeout.

Most cars do not have fittings, but most trucks do. Tie rod ends, ball joints, idler pitman, driveshaft u-joints on some, center support bearings all still need "juicy juice" as we call it. We also usually grease door hinges etc.

Wondered about this myself. So a grease job and a squeeky seat track? Not what I'd call a good test for a service visit for sure. But a happy customer is not to be overlooked at any rate.
