Try selling 2008s instead of 2007s, please

I realize that it's nice to get rid of leftover 2007 models and all to make room for the new 2008s. But last month, when I requested information (via the Cadillac website) on TWO new GM models, both of which had been on sale as 2008s at the time (2008 CTS and 2008 Corvette), I finally got a response from GM:

- 2007 Corvette brochure
- (even worse) 2007 Cadillac CTS brochure

Now, the 2007 editions of both automobiles are fine vehicles, but nowhere near as good as the 2008s...especially in the case of the Cadillac. I looked at the materials for about five seconds each, and then threw away everything.

Was this an issue of laziness, cheapness, incompetence, or what?

Lazy
Was the person who fulfilled my request lazy, and didn't have the initiative to try to give me information about exciting new or improved products for 2008?

Cheap
Is GM being cheap by not wanting to waste all the leftover 2007 CTS brochures until the supply is exhausted?

Incompetent
Do they think that their customers are unaware of the differences between the 2007 and 2008 versions of these vehicles? Anyone considering either a CTS or Corvette would know that the CTS is all new for 2008, and that the Corvette got a new engine among other improvements for 2008, and that they are NOT the same as the ones in the old 2007 brochures.

Also, both of these vehicles typically sell for somewhere in the $40,000 to $55,000 range. Wouldn't more than a one page (two sided at least) glossy sheet of paper be nice to give to a prospective customer? I'm not asking for info on the Aveo.

Speaking of the Aveo, they also gave me a small booklet featuring the entire GM lineup. That's fine, but first of all, it contained 2007s only and not 2008s, and secondly, was probably intended as a substitute for a decent brochure/booklet on each vehicle.

Oh, and I received three follow up e-mails from GM showing photos of - again - 2007 Corvettes and CTSs and asking me to schedule a test drive. I probably would have gotten more, but I unsubscribed.

In contrast to this experience, when the new for 2007 Infiniti G35 sedan was introduced, I received a full color, nicely made book, about 25 pages and all full color glossy, showing multiple wheel, interior, exterior, entertainment, performance, etc. options. I was never harassed by an Infiniti dealer even though I made the same choice - that I'll be in the market for a new car in 12 months - as I did on the GM request.

Please fix stuff like this. The details are killing you!

I don't know about the others...but GM dealers pay for their brochures...

I've yet to receive a Toyota brochure in many years even after test driving one!!!

Re: Try selling 2008s instead of 2007s, please

I realize that publication costs are high, especially for people who may or may not be interested in a vehicle. But even having something like a special website only accessible with a PIN given on a postcard, or a PDF of the full brochure (as I downloaded for the 2008 Corvette ) would be a nice step forward.

Sending "old" 2007 information when they should be promoting the all new 2008s is not acceptable, though.

Correct...

I like that PDF file with a PIN#...

I wish they'd do training as such!

I hate that as well. I don't get it. Does it do GM any good to throw away a potential customer because it wants to be cheap/stingy with it's marketing material?
