Surprise me

When will GM understand that a small truck (or car) doesn't have to be a cheap truck (or car)?

It has been 3 model years (4 years) since the Colorado was introduced. While the truck may have been best in class for about 8 months, everyone has answered with a better, more attractive, NICER, and more expensive looking truck except for Ford. I realize that GM must protect the Silverado from sales cannabalization, but is this neglect really necessary? If GM is going to make it in the North American market, it has to move quicker to update it's products.

The Toyota Tacoma earns sales by offering:
more rugged styling
attractive and comfortable interiors with better materials
higher stance (or lower for street trucks)
more variations and cab/bed configurations
5 speed automatics/6 speed manuals across the board
real off road capability reputation
towing capacity that can actually be useful one day
decent pricing

Every single style or variation of the Colorado should be more powerful, better quality, better looking, and offer more options than the Tacoma and Frontier.

What gives? Get moving already....answer the competition.

It is clear that everybody here agrees with you, Member12. Unfortunately GM is not listening!! Sad, but I guess they feel like this is a segment that is not worth investing in.

Re: Surprise me

I like the exterior of the Colorado/Canyon. They definitely need some updating though, but they will probably neglect them like they did with the S-10. Every product GM puts out needs to be top notch, not some of it, or even most of it. Until that happens, there will be plenty of people that will cut GM down. Sad thing is, I know GM can really do it.

Re: Surprise me

I really want to see an updated Colorado/Canyon. I like the Canyon but I think it could be much better and class leading in both exterior and interior. I would also like to see a GMC or Chevy based SUV and the platform.

Re: Surprise me

yeah, really. maybe theyre next? the quesiton is tho, should they keep them the same size or make them bigger? keep it a true compact or make it midsize? and if they bring the commodore ute over, would that replace the coloanyon or just be a niche vehicle?

either way, they def need an update

Yes. I have been wanting that ever since I found out the Trailblazers were being canceled.

You'd think with the success of the Z71 vehicles, they'd offer a smaller SUV with some off road potential like the Xterra, 4runner, and FJ.

Re: Surprise me

A smaller Z71 SUV model would be nice for people that can't afford the Tahoe Z71.

Most of what GM puts out that is a really well rated car is usually something that will be very profitable like the new GMT-900 Sport uts and pickups.

After owning a Caviler you actually bought a cobalt? Wow, talk about blind loyalty

I know some happy cavalier owners. They sold very well and you could get a stripped down version for as low as 11K for a while.

Re: Surprise me

It's a bit odd that GM neglects its midsize truck duo so egrigiously. The S10/Sonoma were stylish, well built, and quite popular vehicles. Once the Colorado turned out to be such a sales dud, one would think GM would have taken steps to improve it.

Re: Surprise me

I drove an 03 Sonoma CrewCab 4x4 for 4 years and liked it a lot.
It was a reliable truck that performed every task I needed of it. It was good to me.
Good enough that I picked up an 07 Canyon CrewCab 4x4 to replace it.
So far I have been very happy with the Canyon. It has bettered my old Sonoma in every way I use it.

What am I missing here? What is wrong with my Canyon exactly?
