Stage 2 kit for Pontiac Solstice?

A couple months ago there was a posting from a GM Performance engineer on YouTube saying that there was a stage 2 kit coming for the Solstice "in 4 to 6 months".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfSrVQEUpLw

When I wrote to them for details, they gave me the "there are no current plans yet..." corporate answer...

I just joined this forum but I have not found anything new on the topic...has anybody heard if the Solstice GXP stage 2 kit is a possibility yet?

Re: Stage 2 kit for Pontiac Solstice?

Kits, kits, kits. Everyone talks about Stage kits. These became popular with the origional SRT4 and most people dont understand what it really means. It is a generic, over used term. Just because you have a performance turbocharged car dosent mean there will be any "Stage Kits" avaliable. What they usually do is increase boost pressure, increase fuel flow, and increase redline. The LNF engine already runs at near maximum boost (20psi) so they are not going to increase that(not from the factory anyway). They redline fairly high, and have the best TQ curve I've ever seen. These things are tuned near perfect from the factory. There are performance bolt ons for the LNF like intakes and exhaust, but I highly doubt there will be any "kits".

^^^BTW, nice avatar. Gotta love Snoopy as a WWI Ace flying his Sopwith Camel!

Don't get me wrong, this is a car that makes me smile every day...but even if you take the "kit" nomenclature out, this GM performance guy indicates some very possible numbers that would be involved with...if not a kit, a "performance upgrade". There are a lot of really great aftermarket things people are doing but I am really not interested in voiding my GM protections by doing them...hence my interest in a GM supplied / covered increase. To your point though, that is probably exactly why they don't want to put one out on the market...increased repairs which would have to be covered. Now, in 4 years and 2 months, when my warranty runs out...I'll have to see what is possible!

Thanks for the Avatar compliment...the Solstice GXP is my Sopwith Camel, at least in the summer with the top down!
