I dont think its even going to be 40k. I say base price will be 35k-37k, then top of the line model will be 40k-42k. which will still be less then a SRT8 charger version.

IF IT AINT RWD; AND A CHEVY I DONT RIDE IT!!!!!
ALL CHEVY'S NEED TO BE RWD!!!!!
The thing is that when this baby shows up neither of you will want a charger and chevy knows that.![]()
The price will probably start where the Impala LTZ ends.

GM 4 LIFE!!!
Nobody else does it better
I recall last year that the caprice PPVs was being sold to police departments for $24,600. Such a price, even as a loss leader, is possible, yet when GM proclaims the SS to be a halo car, they are thinking making a heavenly profit per car. I'm thinking a minimum of $10,000 per vehicle, putting an absolute floor of $340000, or more if they can.
If it is $30,000, sign me up now. (A Chevy store I bought my Tahoe through assured me they will sell me the SS at list), yet do I trust them on this? No way Jose.
Meh, the G8 GT was an "affordable RWD sedan" starting at $30K and nobody wanted to buy them. (insert excuses here)
Go big or go home.

There is no way your going to buy a cheap 30k SS
No way in hell
It's going to be loaded and pitched at a niche buyer this has been covered a million times over the last few years
Whoever said 42,900 or thereabouts is probably close to spot on
"all i wanna be is idiot free and outta here with you"
Keep in mind that the Charger actually exceeds $40,000 with a fully loaded R/T variant let alone the SRT8 variants that the SS will compete with. The 300C and Taurus easily exceed $45,000, and quite frankly the SS will be more exclusive than either.

I think it would be about exactly that (plus or minus $500), if it were being built in North America. As I mentioned in another thread, if it sticks around long enough to move to Alpha, I'd bet on production moving to Oshawa (of course by then the basic Camaro SS will MSRP for around $37-$38k w/ the 2SS starting around $41k).

Well looks like I won't be stealing your ATS anymore
That put my mind at ease.

Maybe this post should have been a poll, where to people think pricing will be. I say starts just under $40K and goes into the $40's optioned out.
nsap I'm usually with you but on that one you are WAY off. This isn't a barb aimed at you, just cold reality.
There is no way in Hell it will start that low. The G8 GXP started at $39995 in 2009. Jump to 2013, with upgrades this car will be $41,995 minimum. This is going to be a low 40's vehicles people. Its good to hope and dream but you all are setting yourselves up for MASSIVE DISAPPOINTMENT when you get the STICKER SHOCK of your life next year.
Lets put this talk to bed. EXPECT AROUND $42K FOR A BASE CHEVY SS. And don't be surprised if it has an LT1 that it stickers for closer to 44 or 45K. Niche, halo, updated G8 GXP, aimed at Charger GXP. Just use the facts people. FACTS point to a starting pricing point in the low 40's. Anything else and you are just fooling yourself and living in a fantasy world. I say this as a dose of reality, not a flame people.

While I hope NSAP has some insider info the rest of us aren't privy to, I gotta agree with Orbit. If the SS is a Pontiac G8 GXP spec vehicle(hi-po V8 only) with higher quality interior and much more modern tech there's no way it stickers for any less then $39,995. The only way I'll consider buying into the over $40k price range is if they offer us the Ute. My 09 G8 GT has more agressive styling, serves me well, is PLENTY fast enough and it's paid off. Although I think it'll be a great overall car(ala GTO),I'm already prepared for the SS letdown.
