Lights flickering on a 2005 Uplander

Hi, I own a 2005 Chevy Uplander LT that has 2 electrical that may be related to each other. Firstly, the interior and exterior lights flicker. Its most noticeable at idle at night. Secondly, the radio fades and surges when recieving strong FM signals and also does not play most store bought pre-recorded cd's. I know the lighting problem existed on older Transport and Venture vans and was corrected by replacing a ground screw on the alternator. Is this a similar condition? Are the 2 problems related to each other?

Thanks

Re: Lights flickering on a 2005 Uplander

it is a problem with the voltage regulator, most notable with the valeo alternators, quick fix, if its under warranty tell them to fix it.

the radio issue may be related, but id say its probably a problem with the radio itself.

new cars have high demands on alternators, computers, actuators, solenoids, lighting systems, ignition, etc... they are all becoming more and more present on newer cars and trucks. modules everywhere, engine control, trans, body, theft, SDM, remote control door lock receiver, brake control module, HVAC module, drivers door module, passenger door module, onstar, transfer case control module-if equipped, etc..... so many different computer systems controlling vehicles.

Re: Lights flickering on a 2005 Uplander

I have the same issue with my 06 Uplander--lights flicker slighlty at idle. Its going in next week for an Oil change so I will request to have it fixed then. I will let you know what they say. I have no issues with the radio though so I dont think that would be related.
