Re: Impala, GM what were you thinking?

If you decide on your purchases on where it is put together than you may run out of product to purchase in the future. Many companies are moving to Mexico and China to name a couple of places. Then take a look at some of these American cars and see how many parts are not made in the good ol USA. Thats ok though because we take all of these parts made in other countries and put them together in the US. Stupid thinking.

I still say the Impala is just a bad design that looks like someone said we have to redesign this car this year. Lets take the front end from the car and the rear end from this car and make this new Impala. There doesn't seem to be much thought being put into some of GM's designs. Just take a look at some forward thinking on this board and see what the Mod section is doing with the Impala this month.

Off topic but FWIW. Took a walk around the local Mopar dealer the other day, only vehicles on the lot made in the USA were Jeeps. Kind of surprised at that.

No I won’t. It just means I will have less GM’s, Ford’s and Chrysler’s to pick from.

Hmmm, I also own a Mazda 6, it has the Ford 3.0 V-6 and was manufactured in the states, same shared platform as the Fusion, so is it an Import? For that matter, my 06 GXP Grand Prix was built in Canada. Is it an import?

Cheers,
Gary

The Maxima needed a redesign 2 years ago.
Good point on the Maxima. I don't believe Consumer Reports, Edmunds, or just about any other auto-review magazine or website considers it a very good buy in its class. It's got a 6 speed manual available and a decent engine, but if you don't want the manual (and regardless of us enthusiasts, the average large FWD car buyer is not looking for a manual) it's not really a deal.

The Impala has the same rear seat legroom as a Ford Focus: 37.6 in.

Other cars this size such as the Five Hundred and Avalon offer 4-5" more room.

Re: Impala, GM what were you thinking?

You are so right. This back seat has no leg room. You might as well purchase a small car and save a lot of money.

According to this 2004 fact sheet. The Mazda 6 is 55% domestic. And the Grand Prix is 87% domestic.

So both of your cars could be called domestic especially when compared to the Fusion.

Re: Impala, GM what were you thinking?

I was wrong Fusion, it’s 30% not 20%.

Fusion: Only 30% US/Canadian Parts Content

That's pretty **************** offensive. You, nor GM, nor anyone else, should be upset at someone for not liking a Chevrolet if Chevrolet's product is subpar to the competition.

Survival of the fittest. If another brand, perhaps not based in the US, makes good stuff and the American brand doesn't, and the American brand falls, it sucks, but oh well. They didn't step their game up.

Like with another thread, it was pointed out that a Hyundai Azera (I believe its spelled) was getting a better rating of some sort than a Buick. Hyundai is pretty new, and Buick has had about a century to figure things out
