F14's "Where'd the manual transmissions go?" thread

When shopping for a vehicle this July, I found ONE new manual trans Vue in the state. No 2008 manual Vue.

Pontiac canned the 3900/6 speed manual (part of the 2007 GT Sport Package) for the 2008 G6. Oh well, it will make my Reatta transmission even more rare.

No manual trans G8.

All of these mistakes would have been fairly easy for GM not to make, considering the Chevy, Vauxhall, and Holden variants of the G8 that have manuals, the Opel Antara with a manual, and the fact that GM already offered the 6 speed in the G6 (which should be offered with the 3.6L).

I'll be at my Subaru dealer, lemme know when something else happens.

I agree. That is what a real car enthusiast wants. As far as I know the G8 will still be getting a manual, just later in the year, possibly even 09.

Re: F14's "Where'd the manual transmissions go?" thread

Sadly you have to go to your Saab dealer to get a Mid-size car from GM with a Manual. Unless you count one specific trim level of the G6...

Cadillac: 1 (CTS)
Buick: 0
Hummer: 1 (H3)
Saab: 2 (9-3, 9-5)
Saturn: 2 (Sky, Astra)
Pontiac: 4 (Solstice, G5, G6, Vibe)
GMC: 1 (Canyon)
Chevy: 5 (Corvette, Cobalt, HHR, Aveo, Colorado)

Total: 16.. That's it!

Thank god for the Solstice, Sky, CTS, 9-3, 9-5, and Corvette since they are the only non-truck/compacts who have a Manual Transmission in the GM line-up.

Good luck finding one on the lot, even the few dealer Corvettes are ******* Automatics!

Re: F14's "Where'd the manual transmissions go?" thread

I can [almost] understand not having a manual in a certain vehicle due to development costs, say like the Impala SS...GM doesn't have a manual that will take the power.

It's much different when the vehicle is already being made with a manual and just not available here, or discontinued, or could easily be made available (G6 versus '07 and earlier Malibu SS)

Re: F14's "Where'd the manual transmissions go?" thread

want a manual? Go Buy a Cobalt SS S/C or T/C or 9-3

no seriously, it pisses me off too but thats GM for ya! remember G8 will add one next year and Camaro will have one too. Don't be surprised if all ep 2 cars have it also.

I find that ironic considering your opinions often voiced here...

What is more American than a beautiful Hydramatic transmission!

Only Hydramatic for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: F14's "Where'd the manual transmissions go?" thread

By the way...I've moved this to "Letters to GM", as it isn't a complaint about a vehicle itself, per se...as in "defect" or lack of service satisfaction...

Re: F14's "Where'd the manual transmissions go?" thread

I understand, no problem by me.

Hydra Matic was an Oldsmobile thing and definitely American, but to this day it's still in the way of the type of transmission I, and many others really want

Make that 15 -- the G6 lost its manual after 2006.

Personally, I would've bought a Malibu Maxx SS if it had the 6spd manual from the G6, instead of buying my Colorado. And the Colorado can no longer be had with the I5 & manual combo, even tho it can be had in the H3.
