Unfortunately the Price in Europe is 23000 € (32000 US$)

The Same for the Astra!!
I was just guessing at the price (apparently I guessed way too low). My point was Americans aren’t willing to pay that much for a sub-compact.

Re: GM confirms next Corsa will be built in the U.S.

Now while this is very high the Cobalt SS is around $22000 american cars are mostly cheaper than their European counterparts. The Yaris with 100ish HP can be had for the low price of $22700 (with TuRD accessories). I think this is outrageous by the way.
The dissapointed people I was talking about are the same ones that BMG-ed about the Astra's lack of a more powerful engine.

Re: GM confirms next Corsa will be built in the U.S.

if they build this car in NA it might make it more feasible for Holden to bring it back to Aus again, they could sell this instead of that POS Viva, have the Daewoo Barina as the price leader and then have this one as the next level up for those wanting to spend more money on a more sophisticated car, surely they could sell as many of these as they do Viva

Becasue we have to get out of that kind of thinking. EVERYTHING being built must now support it'self in every cost it demands on the company.

Re: GM confirms next Corsa will be built in the U.S.

There's no way they could sell them here for that much but the Corsa is a cute car. It's simple but someone did a nice job with the design. I hope the high gas prices lead to these type cars in the US, it looks a lot better than those stupid "Smart for Two" things.

There's nothing in Bob Lutz' statement here that contradicts a scenario where they are built in a South or Central American GM plant, where GM already has a market for small cars like these.

It would avoid importing the cars from Europe, and allow GM to actually make a profit from lower cost labor.

I think it's a leap (unless I missed something in the rest of the article) to assume it will be built in Ohio or some place like that. Not unless the dollar takes a permanant nose dive.

nononononononononono.

Saturn's already doing wonders with today's youth... At least in Canada. Every kid's fond of Opels.

Stop thinking like fools, you have to take into consideration that pretty much everything costs more in Great-Britain. You cannot directly convert the cost of these cars in pounds to dollars, simply because the economic situations differ in both countries.

I get that it won’t be as craze high, but it’s still going to be really expensive. Even if you take out the taxes the OPC Corsa would be a sub-compact that costs way more then Americans are willing to pay for a sub-compact.

Crap look at U.S. Astra sales, they are horrifically bad.

Build the Corsa, build the Aveo skip the Wave. Corsa looks like a great alternative to Yaris and Fit.

That's right and comparing to UK prices is an especially bad idea since the RHD cars cost more than the same car in LHD version. In Germany the least expensive Corsa OPC would be without taxes about 19,100 euros which in US$ is something like 29,900 $.
