Re: USA Today: There should be more cars like the Buick LaCrosse
The 2010 LaCrosse needs a new face/front end STAT!
The one it has is ugly & foreign. It needs to look American of which it currently does not. !!!!!

I'm more concerned with the pork, why does this car weigh two tons? That lard really hurts the MPG. My 2004 Impala weighed about 3300.

Anyhow, I saw one in person last week from a distance and about threw up, but up close it was nice. I can't call it a game changer, but it's modern and less weird overall than Buick's recent sedans IMO. |

Re: USA Today: There should be more cars like the Buick LaCrosse
not to contradict but the old school american design is pretty much that old! Design needs to evolve and be organic, bring new life into a vehicle not harken back to the old, especially when it comes to Gm and its past. GM needs reinvention from bottom to top. If it continues to tie itself to the anchor of the past it is doomed

Re: USA Today: There should be more cars like the Buick LaCrosse
sounds like the media as usual. they just can not say GM makes a good car. they have to make negatives about everything they can.
-The back seat is too big -There isnt enough storage places. Get off it. Honestly how much stuff do you need to put in a glovebox or centre storage bin. quit looking for reasons to not like GM |

Re: USA Today: There should be more cars like the Buick LaCrosse
I hope more cars are NOT like the new LaCrosse, at least with all the negatives this car offers. He touched on some. Other things that bothered me on a recent test drive or talking to other folks that have given this car a look: squinty windows give less vision and the front A-pillars are too oversized and also obstruct vision. The Epsillon II chassis in this form is absurdly overweight and this makes fuel economy poor and the new smaller 3.0 liter V6 perform less than expected in 0-60 performance. The intrusive trunk hinges are indeed a step backwards and trunk space is almost comical for such a largish sized sedan. The base CX model uses plastic wheel fascias, something Lexus wouldn't dream of on there ES350. Speaking of base models the cloth seats continue the same mistake that the previous generation LaCrosse suffered- lack of color choices in the form of way too light tan and gray. The base model I test drove already had a dingy looking drivers seat with but 200 miles on the odometer. No model has the chrome bodyside molding in the right location. Installing it on the bottom of the doors serves no purpose other than curb and road grime destruction. The Lucerne, DTS, Malibu and Impala put the molding in the middle of the door where it helps ward off dings from other careless parked cars. Styling is subjective but I find this cars looks rather bloated and tubby like a foreign car. I so miss the leaner coke bottle look of the older Buicks like the 97-05 Park Ave and 95-99 Riviera. Offering AWD is a good idea in todays cute ute crazed world. But why restrict it to one model with the much lower powered and overworked 3.0 V6? The fact that todays journalists are gushing over this car like it's the second coming really are showing todays much lower expectations of automobile design.

It costs no more to make cubbies everywhere, make the door pockets useful rather than a joke that will hold two business sized envelopes, door handles that fit meathook hands, and seats that don't give you chronic back pain in 30 minutes. This is SIMPLE COMMON SENSE BUSINESS PRACTICE. Apparently this is something GM still finds either foreign, objectionable, or beyond their capability to design and build. Stupid. NO EXCUSE.

Re: USA Today: There should be more cars like the Buick LaCrosse
I was quite excited to see a big 3 car that was worth looking at(except for some sporty cars) but after a test drive and a look at the tiny trunk I think I will take a look at the Ford Taurus. They say its trunk is much bigger and it looks better than the Lacrosse, also Ford seems to be on a roll with much improved quality.

What a proper luxury vehicle should have is a power trunk, just like the power liftgate on even Chevy SUVs, or the power minivan doors. Why is the trunklid any different? Sal is dead on - it's not a matter of how much effort, it's a luxury car.

Re: USA Today: There should be more cars like the Buick LaCrosse
I have to say, as an owner of a 2010 Lacrosse CSX, that, in my opinion, everything is well executed. I like the idea of a large backseat, thus sacrificing some trunk space. To me the trunk is plenty big, and the goosenecks have not posed any problems at all. If you want massive amount of cubbys and storage, buy a minivan. I personally dont like to load my car up with crap in every available space. Have not noticed any problems with comments regarding the transmission either. Shifts smoothly and is spot on.
Also, the seats have been extremely comfortable especially during longer rides. Visibility has also been a non issue. I believe GM is on the right path and the Lacrosse is a big step in the right direction. |
