There are snobs and then there are people like you who care about things that you can't touch or see or know unless someone were to told you. Your criteria for choosing a car is completely different from normal society. Where normal people focus on tangible things like driving experience, exterior and interior design, fit and finish, and quality of materials; you want to make sure that a fuel pump in your car isn't being used in a cheaper model.. no matter how high quality it may be because it "cheapens" it for you. You clearly don't understand the manufacturing process and why companies do practices like this in every industry because it leads to efficiencies in costs and product quality.

So the answer to expanding the branding of Buick is to GIVE THEM A FREAKING AVEO WITH LEATHER SEATS AND A HARMON KARDON STEREO? Ooops forgot to add the waterfall grille and trishield badge.

HAVE THEY LOST THEIR FREAKING MINDS? Has Lutz fallen and hit his head. I could see an upscale version of the 'Knox but an AVEO?????

Why not have an LTZ version of the Chevy Aveo, kill a few cows for leather seats and call it even.

Why is GM trashing the Buick brand it is trying to restore?

This really is Government Motors afterall.

Stop this insanity - fire whom ever is coming up with this crap.

Buick brand should be LaCrosse, Enclave, Park Ave (or a replacement for the Lucurne) and a new Riv. Perhaps a rebadge of the 'Knox as a RVue.
Thanks for paying attention and then proving my point how people don't know how to read on this website.

IT WON'T BE A REBADGE OF THE AVEO. IT'S JUST USING THE GAMMA-II PLATFORM. GET THIS THROUGH YOUR HEADS.

Christ.

Re: Surprise! GM readying Aveo-based CUV for Buick

I recently drove the current Aveo for a week. I found it cheap and extraordinarily noisy, not a very good car. I would never buy one.
What do we know about this cuv and the car from which it is derived? Is a version of the donor car on the road now?

You need a bigger font size

Some people just don't get it. You can stick the LaCrosse, Insignia/Regal, and new SAAB 9-5 in front of their noses, and they'll still cry rebadge...

Other than dramatic, FALSE headlines, who's saying anything about rebadges?

Re: Surprise! GM readying Aveo-based CUV for Buick

Here's how Susan Docherty, General Manager, Buick-Pontiac-GMC, responded on Fritz Henderson's behalf to a "Tell Fritz" posting dated 8/10/09:

"Thanks for your feedback. We are currently working on plans to expand the Buick lineup of Sedans to include smaller entries. What I can tell you is that any smaller Buick entries will be 'true Buicks' that will feature Sculpted Design, Responsive Performance and Luxury Features all at an attainable price. However, premium entries down to the size of an Aveo is not where we want to take the Buick Brand. Buick’s must be premium in features, content and offer customers a premium warranty like our 4yr 50,000 mile Bumper to Bumper warranty."

I guess by "sculpted design," she's not necessarily saying they'll have a sweepspear, but will be "sculpted" a la the Vue.

The small Buick CUV has the new Buick "look" to it and is about the size of the new xB, so not that small and is a when I asked Susan what it was based on, her answers pointed more to something on the Delta more than Gamma.

It has nice "size" and proportions to it and should do well.
