Re: Production Buick "Business Concept" spied and interior revealed
Even though GM will never offer this here, it will be interesting to see if Buick NA lifts some styling cues from the interior for the redesigned Enclave and upcoming Encore mini crossover.

Not a vehicle that I would be looking for.......BUT I like it for what it is.....A MAXI WAGON ("mini van" for all of you that have no idea that a van is, a truck with a frame)

GM China has been putting out some great Buick interiors. This one looks a little sub par to what they have been turning out. Mainly the dashes big plain black area and the gage cluster design. Look on Honda site and check out the Odyssey's dash design. Very modern and upscale looking on top model. This is the van GM needs to equal or surpass. I think exterior of the Business does, dash design falls short. Bet dash gets a luxo upgrade before production. Last edited by GMJoe : 11-03-2009 at 11:51 AM. |

Re: Production Buick "Business Concept" spied and interior revealed
If GM was further interested in putting pressure on Ford's millenia old Panthers, which the new Caprice 9C1 suggests, they could position this as a fleet only alternative to the Town Car to be used in livery service. If people dig it they can push it into North America full scale. The DTS is dying soon so funeral homes won't be able to buy anymore Caddies and if I die I'm NOT gonna want my last ride to be in a Lincoln.
I saw a Terraza the other day, I was like "Why couldn't GM just let you guys die in 2005?". Why did they force this upon us? The whole idea of the Terraza pisses me off too. This is because minivans have enormous appeal with old people for whatever reason and GM was supposedly trying to get Buick away from the old people image with the LaX (aka 1996 Taurus) and the Lucerne (aka LeSabre/Park Avenue with new styling). Yet a Buick minivan was pretty much targeting 70 year olds with a laser. What were they thinking? The last Olds Silhouette I saw was driven by guy who looked two days past dead. The mid 2000's were a very bad time for GM.

Re: Production Buick "Business Concept" spied and interior revealed
To me the design of the interior is mostly in line with many other minivans - not boxy and upright like the Chrysler vans, not horizontal like earlier Nissan Quests, but actually somewhat similar to the Odyssey, while still in keeping with the LaCrosse, etc. interior. IMHO they did a good job making it similar to other Buicks while still remaining functional. There are only so many ways to style a minivan dash. If it sloped further away, the controls would be hard to reach unless they the dash came into the cabin more, which would take away space.
Though I agree with you and others that mentioned it doesn't seem to be U-based, the first generation W-bodies used the "head to head" (I've heard it called cross-arm too IIRC) style of wipers similar to the U vans, but changed to the more conventional style in the 2nd gen, so I wouldn't necessarily use that to judge.
