Re: New Buick Delta II (Astra Sedan) pics
It's seriously new Canadian Club ads. I think somthing like that could work for Buick somehow.

Re: New Buick Delta II (Astra Sedan) pics
I am REALLY liking this! It could make me reconsider a Regal. The front is awesome, the back...idk, not really into the what I am assuming will be chrome "eyebrow" looking accents.

Re: New Buick Delta II (Astra Sedan) pics
Oh my bad, I always get the TSX and the CSX confused. the CSX is LITERALLY an upscale Civic.
![]() I think Acura just released it in the US within the last year or so but they've been here in Canada since 1995 (as the Acura EL). And who says the Japanese never re-badge? ![]()

![]() It continues to amaze me how so many supposed "car guys" can't figure out why the Astra did not sell as a Saturn... As PA Dweller stated: The car was built in Belgium, which because of the plummeting US Dollar, meant that GM lost money on each one built. At the time the Astra idea was conceived for Saturn, the car would have made a minimal profit for GM until they started building the Astra in North America... Which, of course, never materialized. The one powertrain that was ready for 50 State approval in the U.S. was the wimpy and not so fuel efficient 1.8. Also, because of ballooning costs, the car did not offer near as many options stateside as it did in Europe... Including not offering a performance model in the U.S... The Astra cost more than the typical ION and S-Series customer was willing to pay. Add to that, because of revenue loss on the initial pricing of the car, GM did not offer lower interest rates for the Astra until very late in 2008. (The car debuted in January '08) This was in a time period where even Honda was offering 1.9% financing for the similarly priced Civic. <- Given that, most Americans would opt for the car they know, Civic, that has a great reputation and low financing vs. the Saturn "Astra," which nobody but the Saturn and GM faithful knew in the U.S., and also had no factory supported financing. At the same time, a typical customer could go into a Saturn store and actually buy an Aura XE with a lower payment, because of factory supported financing, than they could get on a cheaper Astra... Sorry, this is a no brainer. The Astra was a decent car, even the U.S. base models, but the Aura was easily a better car all around making the Astra D.O.A.... I worked in a Saturn store at the time of the Astra's arrival. What I described above was exactly what happened in our store and in every store that I know of from talking with Saturn Associates from around the country. |

It's a Canada only model that's just an Acura badged JDM/Asia Pacific region Civic. I actually prefer its styling to the North American Civic. Quote:
Wrong. The main reason that the Astra failed is because an almost complete lack of advertising for the model. |

Re: New Buick Delta II (Astra Sedan) pics
Wow, this car is awesome !!!!!! Folks look at that high quality interior, its a little nicer than the Cruze which is fine because its the upscale mid-level GM small car. This and the Cruze will compete with any compact in America including the Civic, Corolla, Mazda 3, Jetta etc. The Buick line-up in one year will be a Full-size Lacrosse, the mid-size Regal and the compact Opel Buick to go along with the Enclave. Possibly add a small crossover SUV ( I would the Vue) and Buick will be able to compete with Acura, most Lexuses and even Infiniti. We already know Chevy is bringing the Cruze, Volt and possibly that Holden Caprice now we need for Cadillac to announce a RWD 400+hp XTS flagship sedan to be followed by the RWD ATS baby Cadillac. This does not include the 2 door CTS coupe which we will be receiving next year. With these additions GM will basically be completely fixed !!!!!! |

You can't say he's wrong. There is no one reason why the Astra failed and advertising would not have fixed every problem he highlighted.

Nevermind, according to the GM website, GM was incorporated on Sept. 16, 1908. At that time, it was only comprised of the Buick Motor Company. Oldsmobile was second on November 12, 1908. Quote:

Re: New Buick Delta II (Astra Sedan) pics
They've made some effort here. But I'd hardly say that it has full-on brand identity eith the LaCrosse or any other Buick.
Try a little harder, guys. That ought to be the lesson of the last 30 years. |

Re: New Buick Delta II (Astra Sedan) pics
So this will be the new "Buick Verano" that they were talking about...?

As more people move to smaller cars, luxury-small-cars are finding a place in the market, and to recapture all those lost sales, Acura is going to eventually plug this hole in their lineup. No word yet if the car will be based CSX as in Canada (which itself replaced the EL, I believe) or if they'll just off the RSX moniker, but you can be sure they are going to be offering something in this class in the next few years throughout North America.

Re: New Buick Delta II (Astra Sedan) pics
And because of a horrible powertrain...and because of lackluster fuel economy...and because of a horrible interior...and because of unfamiliar switchgear...
