Re: More China-Market LaCrosse Pictures (HUD, Nav, the works!)
GM should put a 6-speed automatic and the Chinese interior into the U.S. LaCrosse and create an "Ultra" trim.
This trim would be available with all three engines and create a much more desirable LaCrosse. It would be the most cost effective way and if sales pickup GM could keep the LaCrosse name with just the 3800 and use it for fleet sales when the new Regal is introduced. |

Re: More China-Market LaCrosse Pictures (HUD, Nav, the works!)
Everyone is entitled to an opinion. The biggest car seller in world succeeds by not designing for the American market. They have their opinion and it works.
Samkung is in Australia and I am guessing that English is not his first language so you have to make allowances for misunderstandings but he understands what an analogy is -he says IF you ask a 14 year year old. It is a pity Americans don't get to study analogy. idioms and sarcasm enough. They would get along with others a whole lot better. When I was 14 my father bought a new car and he consulted both myself and my borther (who was 19) over which cars he should consider as we were up to date in our knowledge of cars and he wasn't. |

I'm REALLY impressed with Buick lately - I just wish the cars would sell here. I've been driving Cadillacs for a LONG time but I think a Buick is in my future... |

My point is that the plastic quality on the dash is better in the Honda than the Buick. I'm not saying the design is better - that is an entirely different thing. But the biggest area Buick has dropped the ball in appealing to the under 60 crowd is not offering a DVD based navigation system - which even the entry level Civic offers. Also - if you look at the picture of the Buick's interior you will see some of the worst examples of plastiwood in the industry. Especially up on the upper left area of the dash where GM/Buick shamelessly prints white letters on the plastic. As if to remind everyone that the wood couldn't be more fake!! The Lucerne and Enclave have very classy interiors and have convincing fake wood trim. The LaCrosse is horrible. Please understand - I'm not saying that Buick's need to look like the Honda Civic. I'm just saying that the Civic (which is at a much lower price point) offers things the Buick does not. And for those quick to judge someone's opinion it is quite amazing that you would fall on your sword over the LaCrosse interior - one of the worst in GM's luxury fold. Hell - the Aura which is cheaper than the LaCrosse - has a much nicer and higher quality interior than the LaCrosse. It also has the six speed automatic...a more sophisticated suspension, roomier back seat....etc. Last edited by boblutzfan : 06-04-2007 at 02:26 PM. |

Re: More China-Market LaCrosse Pictures (HUD, Nav, the works!)
The Civic has a very nice interior and is well-received by it's intended market. "Our" Buick is supposed to be the Domestic Lexus but these cars just don't compare. However, the Buicks in the Chinese market are excellent.
Has anyone at GM come out and said exactly WHY China is getting better Buicks and Cadillacs than Americans are? |

I think GM was caught flat footed on this one. The rise of the internet in getting out information that 10 years ago wouldn't be so widely available showed many US consumers what other markets were already getting. The fact that GM could import the GTO proves they can bring product if they really want to. I predict some interesting announcements in Las Angeles come this November at the LAIAS concerning Cadillac and Buick. I honestly think the backlash against the Chinese product will caused some shockwaves within GM. We will see the result this fall - in some form or fashion. And the result will be in US dealerships in early 2008 as 2009 models. |

It's annoying that they're ignoring us. They could at least lie and tell us they're testing them out over there before bringing them over here.. The interiors...
