Re: Meet Your 2010 Buick Lineup

When I was shopping SUV's or CUV's with the wifey..the Enclave was far from a badge engineered vehicle. It was clearly the best of the GM offering..

Maybe it was the double pain glass...or whatever...but it was clearly the quietest of the bunch...

Great vehicle...but cooler heads prevailed as we didn't need 7 or 8 passenger capability so we didn't buy a CUV..

If I were in the market today....I would clearly lean towards the Buick Lacross CXS or CSX whichver is correct...I don't know...

All I do know is that new LaCrosse CXS was a dam sharp four door luxury product esepcially when nicely equipped at less than 33, 800 dollars..

Really really sharp. I think its actually nicer than the CTS AWD 300hp car I'm using as a family sedan..

I dig the CTS but it was quite a bit more than the new Lacrosse and quite honestly the shape of the Lacrosse CXS is dam good looking too..

Nothing, I guess. GM seems to just throw random letters together that sound cool for their trim levels.

Thankfully they still have Lucerne. Every party girl needs an ugly sister to make her look better.

Anyone have any "real" shots of the Lacrosse interior?

Hell, at least GM tried to update the Lucerne. They did something funky with the rear end as well, I'm still trying to figure out what exactly they did, but it looks slightly different. Maybe it's just me. I don't know.

Anyways, there's these. From Autoblog or Jalopnik or something.

Re: Meet Your 2010 Buick Lineup

I love the Enclave and the new Lacrosse. Whoever said the outside of the new Lacrosse is lame must be sniffing glue. This car is the nicest looking FWD/RWD sedan GM has ever produced and in my opinion is one of the top 5 nicest looking sedans inside and out in North America. Its stunning people !!!!!! I think there are a few vehicles GM could move into the Buick lineup. I would move the Vue into Buick and just change the badging and possibly reduce the vehicle's weight. It can compliment the Enclave and it looks entirely different from the new Terrain. I would also maybe make the Solstice or Sky a Buick. We all know the new Regal will be here next year, I would find a way of speeding up that process. I still think the Pontiac G8 should move into Chevy.

Data is only as good as how much is collected. I would say there's enough here to prove the point that 30 something's are the majority buyers, of Enclaves anyway. (what 60+ driver needs an 8-passenger ride anyway?) The Enclave is more geared for families. Everyone has computers these days (at least most up to the age of 70). So, anyone in their 60's to age 70, which is what the Buick has the reputation of selling to, are reporting on the poll, and it's obvious where the data lays. Now, the same argument could be said about surveys on reliability. It's only as good as the data received. AND, most who fill out the surveys have a beef about something with their car, the ones who are completely satisfied usually don't bother.

Yes, the Enclave is much more family-oriented, but then that supports the idea that younger people are going to be on an Internet forum especially one focused on that vehicle. It's hard to say how much of younger people being the larger result of the poll is because the Enclave is being bought more by younger people or if it's just because more younger people are more likely to be on message board in the first place (of course the results of the Enclave poll are supported by articles that have said the Enclave is being purchased by younger people). If you made say, a poll on a Toyota Avalon forum (if there is one) about age, I doubt you'd find the owner ages tipped towards 60+ year olds just because more people of that age buy them. I'd say reliability surveys are different because, like you said, people are more likely to respond when they have reason to complain. I'd say that applies to anyone. With the age poll, younger people are more likely to respond because there are likely more younger people on the forum in the first place - that's all I meant.

IMO this is just an example of making the right product. The Rendezvous was also very successful at pulling in younger buyers. Large cars that aren't SUVs/trucks don't typically appeal to younger people, and since the late '90s, Buicks cars have all been larger than Camrys, Accords, Malibus, etc.

Re: Meet Your 2010 Buick Lineup

Assuming Lucerne goes away and they're not dumb enough to badge an Opel Insignia a Buick, it's even more dumb for the only Buick sedan to be named a LaCrosse. Not only is it an uninspired name, they can't even call it that in every market. That said, if they brought back a storied name from the past (Electra?) this car's way too foreign looking to badge it as such.

I don't know if Allure is any more inspired, but it does have a totally different ring to it. And better yet, it's okay to be used in any market. Leave a name that has cachet from previous models for a true RWD flagship if/when Buick ever gets one.

I disagree. The new Lacrosse is stunning both inside and out. Based on those photos, the car would easily be on my short list if I were in the market.

Re: Meet Your 2010 Buick Lineup

While the LaCrosse name is okay, does it fit the car?
If you had to pick a philosophical "father" to this car, wouldn't it be a LaSabre? GM threw away a best-selling name, and I think they would still be better off with the LaSabre name on it. And a flagship should be Invicta or Park Avenue.

Totally agree. "LeSabre" would be totally appropriate for this car. To me, "LaCrosse" and "Lucerne" serve as reminders of one of the lowest periods in Buick's history. The brand was reduced to 2 sedans built on old platforms with outdated powertrains and uninspired interior designs (not to mention that the W-body LaCrosse had an exterior design similar to the 2000-2007 Ford Taurus). "LeSabre" used to be the best selling large sedan in the U.S.; why not resurrect that name for this great new Buick product. Let's revive a name that represents something positive from Buick's past (like "LeSabre") instead of continuing with a name from the brand's low period (like "LaCrosse"). Unlike "LaCrosse", "LeSabre" could be used throughout North America; additional funds wouldn't be needed to market the car under a different name in Canada. I understand GM's decision to carry on with the "LaCrosse" name in China; that name helped establish and expand Buick's fortunes in that market. To continue to use it in the U.S. (or North America), seems totally illogical to me.
