Re: GMI Spies: 2017 Buick LaCrosse on Dealership Lots

I think it's a good looking car. Looks low and lean both in pictures and in person. To me, the DLO and overall shape was "Malibu-esque", and I mean that in a good way.

However, I do think there is some room for improvement. The rear is sleep-inducingly boring, and it doesn't have the famous Buick "Sweepspear" like the current one has. Instead, it has an Impala-like character line running down the side instead. Not a fan of that.

It's also pretty expensive. The White one wasn't even AWD and didn't even have things like navigation or an upgraded sound system or uplevel rims, yet was still $45,000+. Granted we now live in a world where $45,000 really isn't as much as it used to be, but still, I can't help but think that this car is a bit overpriced for what you get. You do get a lot, don't get me wrong, but it ain't cheap at the end of the day. But if Buick wants to move upmarket, then I suppose the pricing is fine for now. Still though, $45,000+ for a car that's still missing a few things. Ouch.

Will it sell well? I don't know. It's a fairly good looking car, but not a standout IMHO. I'm sure it's plenty roomy and the interior is a nice place to be, but is the car attractive enough or is the interior good enough to get people to plunk down money on it? We'll see.

If I were to guess, I think it won't sell quite as well as the outgoing LaCrosse, but it won't be a failure by any stretch of the imagination.

I have to agree. It's a nice looking car but like I said early on in another thread here, that sweepspear when compared to past applications leaves a lot to be desired IMO. Sticker shock could be an issue but who knows.

If I was in the market for that size car, I think I would choose the Impala.

Saw one on the local dealer lot today, sharp looking car. The Impala is a good looking car but sorry the LAX looks better.

I like the new LaCrosse, in pictures I was disappointed and thought it looked like an Impala. But when I saw it at the NY Auto Show it looked great and it didn't look like the Impala.

I said that when the online configuration went live the packaging seemed a bit off. The starting price doesn't mean much when you have to pay 40k+ for a decent version. Hopefull the price is inflated with GM knowing they will add incentives in the future. Anyways, after the road trip I took in a loaded impala I find value in a large comfy yet competent sedan.

Re: GMI Spies: 2017 Buick LaCrosse on Dealership Lots

I looked at a black one last Wednesday, while they were prepping it, adding pin stripes and other junk. $41k for fwd. it looked very nice, but the gear shift was a bit underwhelming, perhaps confusing, as the salesman was having trouble shifting it into different gears. Probably not a deal breaker, but why change what isn't broken?
Like most (all?) new GM cars, it appears to be at least $2,000-$3,000 overpriced. I expect an initial sales jump for those who gotta have one NOW, then sales slowdown as the market determines the LaCrosses's true value.

Even prices for a top end Impala are a bit overpriced. The interior of the LAX looks great in the photos. But, I do wish for a little more style on the exterior.

I thought the same thing this weekend while looking over a couple of 2LTZ trim ones. They stickered for over $41,000. For an Impala OUCH.
