I hope the 9-4X is spared the ignominy.

Lexus uses Toyota engines... and no one seems to complain about that.

Re: GMI Exclusive: SRX, Equinox To Get 3.0L HF V6

I see both sides of the story. Its good that GM seems to be the leader with putting DI in everything it can to help power and efficiency. But Caddy should have better engines than the other divisions, if only in tune. But that pissed people off too. Remember when the 900 Denali and Escalade first came out, the Caddy was rated at over 400hp, while the GMC was rated at 380hp, well people bitched. No way to please everyone.

And look at the Lexus version, it is tuned to use premium and has a HP bump. You can't get the exact same engine in the Toyota version.

I complain about it all the time. More like sneer at it. But they have adequate separation for their highest end cars.

Hey maybe they can stick the Hemi in the Cadillac to distinguish it from the Chevy.

Nope. Because it's one of the core reasons Cadillac is having this problem in the first place.

There is nothing wrong with putting an advanced engine in the Chevy.
This circles back to the same argument that was posited in the 70's and the 80's and the 90's!!!

What makes Cadillac so special if all the parts are the same and there are no differences between a Cadillac and a Chevrolet?

And yet, after all of this, we are now in the 4th decade of this same argument.

The one time in Cadillac's history since the 1950's where the powers at be finally realized what was going on was 2000-2004-ish. Where the decision to isolate Cadillac from the rest of the lineup and create an exclusive to Cadillac lineup was made. Cadillac should have taken those ideals to the next level. Instead, we're witnessing a reversion of that mentality. And it's wrong for Cadillac.

It's not about Cadillac not "being my type of car." It's about Cadillac being competitive against cars that are in its market segment. It's also about Cadillac not looking foolish when compared to cars like a Genesis.

It's a friggin' Cadillac. You all need to expect MUCH more than we are given!! Anything less than the best of the best is inappropriate.

And if the 3.0L engine in the Equinox is "The Best." Then SRX deserves "The Best" + 1.

I bet this would make an excellent optional engine in the Cruze, HHR, and maybe even the Malibu.
I can see it has the base option in a future malibu. However it might be too large to fit in the Cruze.

Ok. Ok. We get it.

Now what would be +1 for you? Tune it differently so it requires premium in this time where people are more and more fuel conscious?

Strap a Turbo on it? Thats walking all over Saab's image.

De-tune the Chevy version, so that its not competitive?

Hmmmm, not feeling it.

It is the right size and all, but why do we have to endure the same exact front end on cars and CUV's at Cadillac?
Are they running out of ideas? The art and science theme is wearing thin.

Do you guys actually know that it ISN'T tuned differently?? Have there been HP/TQ #'s revealed for each model???

BTW the equinox and cadillac ride on quite substantially different chassis. the equinox is on theta while the cadillac is on theta-epsilon.

Re: GMI Exclusive: SRX, Equinox To Get 3.0L HF V6

i can remember the day when each and every GM product had its own designed engine and transmission. those days are gone and so are the days of a whole platter of different engines. the cost to develop all these different engines has to be astronomical. the high $$$ caddy has a chevy truck engine. the LS enines were designed for trucks.

Higher HP. So what if it uses premium fuel? It's a Cadillac. People who buy Cadillac's can afford it.

Add a supercharger.

If the Equinox is mated to a 6-speed.... then the Cadillac gets a 7-speed.

Isolate the engine to make it quieter for the Cadillac.

Perhaps the SRX get a 3.2L version. THe US is not subject to engine displacement laws.

Re: GMI Exclusive: SRX, Equinox To Get 3.0L HF V6

Can we assume that the SFI 3.6L HF will be dropped and the 3.0L DI motor put in it's place?
Hp is with in 5hp and I bet gas mileage in the .6L smaller DI motor is 1-2mpg better.

Re: GMI Exclusive: SRX, Equinox To Get 3.0L HF V6

Hope nobody takes this personally:

GM is in a fight for survival. Chevrolet is not in competition anymore with pontiac, or buick with Caddy.
They are fighting against DOHC Nissans, Hondas and Toyotas. Some are espousing higher end engines in Caddys.
Then why don't we put pushrods in everything else?
You can get a twin turbo 3L in a 1 series, 3, 5 and 6. Do you think the 5 series guy thinks he's getting a lesser engine? Hell no.
Some of y'all are living in 1978, worried about which engine is in which brand.
Ridiculous.
Quality motors in all cars and brands is the only way GM will survive.
