Cowger: Enclave production slowed by shortages

In the January 16, 2008 Lansing State Journal, Gary Cowger of GM said a lack of components is holding down higher production of the Buick Enclave. Here is a direct link to the report

Glad to hear that the demand is outstripping supply. As long as it doesn't go on for too long, this is really good news for GM.

Re: Cowger: Enclave production slowed by shortages

Sounds like a PR move.

This is not a big deal:

BUICK ENCLAVE Production Update

Platinum Ice Tri-Coat (94U) paint production is scheduled to begin in January 2008

Buick Luxury Package (PCK) may increase lead time by 2 weeks or more as demand is temporarily greater than supply

Center Row Console (DK1) will not be available until 1st Quarter of 2008 Calendar Year - new option

It may be of interest to someone in the market for an Enclave.

Well, it's better than having a billion Enclaves sitting on dealer lots with $8000 off MSRP on the windows...

I'd like to see the 4.5L diesel in here. That torque band would really help get the Enclave moving along better than the current 3.6L V6

Re: Cowger: Enclave production slowed by shortages

shortage is never GOOD news for GM. People will just go elsewhere if they can't get one. I want one at the end of summer, wonder when I should place my order?

The $500 rebate was pulled off of the Enclave yesterday. Hope you bought one during the 12 days of THAT program.

And platinum Ice has been cancelled. White Diamond will continue. Not sure what changed their minds on that one. Spazzes!

The Enclave is front wheel drive, the 4.5 has 520 tq, the tranny would
blow apart with that kind of power
but the 2.9 liter diesel that is for Cadilac in Europe would do just fine
It is still heavy on the tq for front wheel drive

Re: Cowger: Enclave production slowed by shortages

I wish they would be a little more specific of the components that are in short supply. I wonder if it is just Enclave specific or if it also affects the Outlook and Acadia.

What components? Unless we're told then most will believe it's nothing but PR bull****.

Re: Cowger: Enclave production slowed by shortages

Enclave still in demand! Excellent news, they've managed this launch very well in my opinion. I can't wait until Buick gets more product, I we'll see this enthusiasm for the Enclave carry over to a compelling sedan and other vehicles across the product line

I would like to see that the way fuel prices are going. Maybe the AWD Enclave can handle it since power can go to all wheels.
