Well The said it will have the:

2.4 DI base
2.0 Turbo Mid around 220 Hp
and something else that was a 4 also.

I want the 2.0 turbo as it should get good gas mileage and will have just the right amount of power.

They also should have a 3.6 DI version, the same engine in the Lacrosse.

220 horse 4 = bleh.

The drivetrain doesn't matter - it doesn't have the size.
An Ecoboost-powered Fusion SHO, or Milan or MKZ given the more premium aspirations, would be a more appropriate competitor for a sport Regal.

You need to take context in consideration:

Buick LaCrosse: ~4,000lbs
3.0L SIDI VVT V6
6-spd auto
255hp, 217lb-ft torque
17/26 mpg

3.6L SIDI VVT V6
6-spd auto
280hp, 259lb-ft torque
17/27 mpg

Mercedes-Benz C-Class: ~3,500lbs
3.0L V6
7-spd auto
228hp, 258lb-ft torque
18/26 mpg

3.5L V6
7-spd auto
268hp, 258lb-ft torque
18/26 mpg

Don't get hung up on horse power numbers, The 220 HP 4 banger they are talking about should have something like 260 lb-ft of tq, that's what gets the car moving. My friends '09 Audi A4 has a 2.0 turbo with 211HP but 258 TQ and it moves for a decent sized sedan (3700 lbs).

Not to mention tuning a turbo engine yields great gains. Some Audi tuners just tweak the computer and get some ridiculous amounts of power and torque without physically bolting anything on. This is what I'm hoping for with the new regal, if the engine is anything like the LNF int he cobalt then I think there is great performance potential for it, all the while being luxurious.

As for the 3.6 loss in power, its got something to do with making it FWD I'm sure, new intake/exhaust manifolds and computer tuning.

I guess they'll be in showrooms by summer/fall 2010.
My guess is North American production is slated for 2011 . Vehicles available in 2010 will be built in Germany , is my guess

Me too, I would consider scrapping my plans to buy a used G8 and get one of these if it happens and is priced right.

Why are you comparing apples and oranges? The LaCrosse is an E-class eqivalent not a C-class car, that is one or two sizes down. The Astra/Skylark would match the C-Class in the C-segment.
