Re: Buick Ponders Another Crossover, CBS Showed It to Us First

It's about time to put Buick to sleep. What's the point behind "affordable luxury" when Cadillac is busy moving downmarket? Buick's octagenarian buying pool gets smaller by the day, especially since there is nothing like a Grand National or Wildcat or Riviera in its future. Thank you GM, let's get more of the same reconstituted stuff;
Dear Fritz:
You just don't have a clue, do you?

Re: Buick Ponders Another Crossover, CBS Showed It to Us First

I find it amazing just how many trolls post to these pages. If you don't like GM or what is being done at government orders simply posting saying that something else should be done , like saving Pontiac, Hummer, Saturn or even Oldsmobile, (how about Oakland and LaSalle?) is a vast waste of time.

The decisions have been made and the ship has sailed. GM has been resized and reduced in brands from one suitable for 60% market share to one suitable to a 20% market share.

The number of brands and dealers, and factories is now about right for the size of the company. The proof of that is that both Toyota and Ford with approximately similar shares, get by with three or four brands, when you include trucks as a division/brand.

Get over it.

There is a vast difference from platform sharing two vehicles and badge changing, 8 brands.

Re: Buick Ponders Another Crossover, CBS Showed It to Us First

Someone educate me here:
What is the price range for the Chevy?
What is the price range for the Caddy?
Is there enough room between the two for a Buick?
If I'm not mistaken, the Chevy will have a 2.4L I4 standard and a 3.0L V6 optional, while the Caddy will have the latter standard and a turbo 2.8L V6 optional. Has GM mentioned the drivetrains for the proposed Buick?
IMHO, there needs to be more than unique sheet metal to differentiate the three TEs. I believe it was a mistake for GM to make four similar models from the lambda platform. A Chevy version should've been a traditional minivan while a pair from Buick and Saturn would've made sense. I know the Acadia sells well for GMC but it sits on the same BPG showroom floor with the Enclave. That's a bit too redundant for me.

Re: Buick Ponders Another Crossover, CBS Showed It to Us First

I think GM has done a lot better with making models for different divisions on the same platforms. Look at the Lambdas for example. Not a one look alike and they serve to their demographic. The only exception is, of course, the GMT-900 trucks/SUV's.

With that being said, I think if they built a buick crossover based on the TE platform, it will go over a lot better than the Rendevous and look nothing like the SRX and look like a completely different model than the Rendevous did to the Aztek.

Just use the Vue as a rebadge for now but just make some changes like reduce weight, give the 2.4 engine Direct Injection, a 6 speed and AWD. Also give us a real Hybrid too.
