Especially since the tri-shield is red, white, and blue. The colors of our flag.

We don't get any Buicks that ARE proud of what they are...nothing but FWD rental-car crap. now with a spear-sweep. Disgusting.

So true. Maybe if we appreciated it as much as they do, we would get all of the great products they do.

The new Lacrosse is hardly "rental crap" as you so eloquently put it.
People need to stop living in the past and not everyone need nor wants a RWD car .

I concur wholeheartedly.
The colors in the tri-shield should have never been taken out.
The badge looks & is lifeless w/out the colors.

GM, Give Buick's badge its life back, put back the color!!!

Re: Buick Park Avenue facelift spotted in China

Since so many people are commenting on Buick's tri-shield badge, and whether to have colors in it or not, here's what Ed Welburn wrote a few days ago in a response on the "Tell Fritz" website:

"The Global Industrial Design team at Design Center is currently working with each of the brand teams in a very focussed assessment of the brand identity, including the badges and nameplates, graphic expressions and all forms of visual communication of the brands. In addition to benchmarking the direct competition, we are evaluating the execution of the logos as 3 dimensional badges for quality and image.

We value the equity established by the long-standing images and will not be replacing the brand logos with totally new graphic design. We will, however, be making noticeable changes to the existing logos by updating the graphic execution and dimensional details."

I remember reading somewhere that it was felt that the chrome-only badge was "classier". And if you look at the luxury/near luxury competition they are all simply chromed shapes of some kind.

I take the opposite view. I feel if you're going to attract the attention of a given market you have to be different. The original CTS, for example.

Re: Buick Park Avenue facelift spotted in China

I like the colored badge, my parents Park Avenue has it, and i feel like its leading the way. My car has no Buick badges on it, which i think adds a touch of class and mystery.

Re: Buick Park Avenue facelift spotted in China

I agree, why GM thought it was a good idea to remove all the color from the Buick badge is beyond me. Just like dumping all of Buick's traditional and established brand names like Regal, LeSabre, Park Avenue and Riviera.

Maybe not all Cadillac fans but most true Buick fans want a RWD car! RWD is the future! I have owned and driven a few FWD cars in the past (including a Buick) and I won't ever own another FWD car in the future! (at least not to keep it!)...

Me too! A bit smaller and sportier, maybe like the Commodore or G8 but with Buick badges on it!

Re: Buick Park Avenue facelift spotted in China

Relocating the chrome strip to the middle of the door where it can actually be seen and 4 port holes on both front fenders would go a long way to tarting up the plain sides and how I would love to see a return of the long horizontal taillights. They didn't go far enough to make this a Buick IMO. Removing the color from the Buick badge was another in a long line of mistakes Buick and GM made along with the stupid across the board name changes.

Agree. I would also like to see horizontal taillights, interior colors other than light tan and light gray, port holes where you can actually see them and Buick styling not China or Japan blandness.
