Re: Buick Debuts two More LaCrosse Commercials

When I joined this site and became a GM fan, there was not a single GM vehicle that could compare itself to Lexus with a straight face.
Now, This one is clearly a better car.

Why didn't the commercial include the F-150? Was GM afraid to step on Ford's toes? C'mon GM,grow some balls, the real competition in pick-ups is Ford. I know Ford wouldn't hesitate to stick it to GM as they have done in past commercials.

GMC is positioned as an "alternative" to Chevy. Dodge and Toyota are probably its more cross-shopped brands. Chevy has taken swipes at Ford in its ads before. Most of the country sees the truck market as Chevy, Ford and everybody else. This GMC commercial was the everybody else one.

Ford was not included because Ford truck buyers, and Chevy truck buyers for that matter, are well entrenched. Ford guys generally buy Fords, Chevy guys generally buy Chevies. This GMC ad was to appeal to those who are more on the fringe, those who may not want a plebian Ford or Chevy, those who want something different... Those are the folks that generally buy Toyota and Dodge trucks. Dodge, at one time, had a grasp similar to Ford and Chevy in the truck market where their customers would return over and over again. That market has started to disappear... And with Chrysler in turmoil, many of their traditional customers will be up for grabs. GMC has a strong market presence and enough "professional grade" clout to attract these "on the fence" customers.

In a 30 second spot you were hoping to condense a brochure or a microsite?

+/- 7 is the rule people. If your average viewer remembers the nav system or the suspension the commercials have been extremely effective. Especially when you consider all the other things rattling around in their noggins.

I like the commercials so far. The visuals focus on the styling while the narrative emphasizes an important feature. This isn't your grandfather's Buick.

I guess people in our age group will take note, and if this is what it takes to get sales, so be it. But whatever happened to saying "hey, we have a 280-hp V6 in it"?

Re: Buick Debuts two More LaCrosse Commercials

Yeah, I'm 22. My mom (58) has a 2005 LaCrosse CXL, which really isn't awful. On the few occasions where I have needed to drive it in place of my own car, my friends and I love how comfortable it is and how the quiettuning lets us talk or listen to music on what is a pretty good stereo. With a car that has styling and technology that's actually up-to-date, I think Buick will win with this car over time.

Also, I want a new Regal. Bad.

Awesome commercials. Is it me or did anyone else get shivers over Buick's new tagline: "The new class of world class"

Why must it be a 30 second spot? It should be as long as it has to in order to promote the car's high points.

Re: Buick Debuts two More LaCrosse Commercials

Their current advertising is the best Ive seen in my 25 years.
I may even go as far as saying best at GM currently.
I think they did a good job on both commercials...
With the first commercial though, I think it definitely speaks to the younger generation. And the buttons and dial make it look of very good quality and technology. And the second commercial speaks to the total opposite consumer. Awesome!

Uhh...maybe because the longer the commercial, the more expensive it is...

Re: Buick Debuts two More LaCrosse Commercials

All three new spots are very good - especially in light of earlier efforts (can we PLEASE forget the fashion model spots?). The beauty-shots of the LaCrosse driving slo-mo across the intersection in the sunrise (or set) is especially good. GM photogs please take note of how to make a car look stunning! All in all, its going to come down to selling a beautiful car that makes people want it. Keep up the quality and features, work on resale values and you got a keeper. The Regal is just going to add to the allure (pun intended!). The only items left in my mind are those extra pounds. It would be terrific if the LaCrosse could lose about 400lbs magically...
