Not exactly blown away by the styling, but hope for GM's (Buick's) sake, it's a reliable seller

I can't wait to see a certain San Francisco person's input on how bad this will flop because of Red Ink Rick.
Personally, I think it looks great. It certainly isn't as frumpy as some of Buick's recent designs and it definitely won't turn away the existing customer base. I'm hoping it's aggressive enough to bring in new customers, though.

This thing looks like a sloppy combination of Asian design elements. Asian eyes, bubble greenhouse, short front end, high cowl, high belt line, weird ass tail lamps. And then there's the interior. It's got some nice details, but for the most part it's just a bunch of weird shapes and looks like they used a barbie doll plastic car for inspiration. Not exactly what I would consider opulent. This car just really annoys me. |

Re: 2010 LaCrosse Coming To LAIAS; LaCrosse Name Official
GM doesn't know its ass from its elbow.
They change the name of the Cobalt to the most lame name on the planet because they want the same name in all markets, yet they keep the second most lame name on the planet even though its called something different in other markets. The 'geniuses' in marketing thought LaCrosse was such a great name worth keeping, tied to a car noone cares about? Yet they change the name of the Cobalt even though there are Cobalt fansites all over the place. GM is a mess. Seriously. They have no idea what they are doing with Cadillac, Saturn is a failure, Pontiac is going small FWD, and in the meantime Ford is quickly revving up to bring all its Euro products over here ASAP. Better looking cars, better planning, a CEO who knows what he's doing. For God sakes, FIRE Wagoner before market share shrinks to 15%. |

Re: 2010 LaCrosse Coming To LAIAS; LaCrosse Name Official
I'm reserving judgement on this.
As a life-long Buick fan, I desperately want this car to succeed . . . . to be a true smash hit. Lord knows, Buick - and GM - desperately need it to be so. Yes, the styling appears too Eastern at first glance, with only the vestiges of the "dollar grin" at the front. However, the belated and very welcome return of the "sweepspear" side crease provide some much needed Buick DNA. Other than the teaser photograph, and various disguised prototypes, the only pictures we have seen were grainy shots hastily taken on a camera phone inside a plant, and which appeared to show a base model. I was fairly disappointed, to be honest, but such pictures are not enough for a definitive judgement. Heck, as we well know, even GM official photographs have a tendency to be very unflattering. Looks aside, we are talking about replacing an aged W-body with the first North American application of Epsilon II, a brand-new amd allegedly highly capable platform, with new engines and a six-speed transmission. We will have a brand-new body and brand-new interior. As for the name . . . yes, I, too, would have preferred a "glory days" nameplate, but LaCrosse it is. I just pray this Lacrosse II is a real winner, the "mind-boggler" that Lutz once called it. |

To put it bluntly, it will be a huge leap styling wise over what you are
currently driving Hitman. No pun intended, just reality.

I think this car looks stunning and that it will do well.
Btw, Since when did Buick styling cues become Asian looking. Look at past Buicks, it's inspired by them. Not Asian cars. I think this car looks very American. It's the Lucerne and Current LaCrosse that try to be Lexuses.

Forget heritage names, Allure in all markets would be more logical than LaCrosse/Allure.

Re: 2010 LaCrosse Coming To LAIAS; LaCrosse Name Official
Interestingly enough, this car will be the Buick Regal in China, replacing their old Regal (tarted up original Regal, but not as bad-looking as the LaCrosse). Their LaCrosse is actually a good and still-new car, and will continue as a larger sedan.

I would still prefer to see it as a Regal or Lesabre, as I really like those names, but Allure sounds rather classy, and won't hamper the car at all.
