Re: 2010 Buick LaCrosse Uncovered

Will anyone really care if it looks like an Opel Insignia? Most average Americans will never see one, only us geeks who read these auto websites.

Re: 2010 Buick LaCrosse Uncovered

I like it so far! It's great that Buick has an entry level car that can stand by itself and not look like an entry level car.

The Buick Sweepspear line is also growing on me because it looks to be well integrated and relevant to the Brand. Style lines on new MB, Chrysler, and especially BMW all seem to look too awkward to my tastes.

If the car has decent rear seat leg and headroom, it should be a winner!

Re: 2010 Buick LaCrosse Uncovered

I like it a lot.

I am a Buick lover, grew up in a Buick household, have one in the garage now.

If Buick does a high-end interior with cutting edge technology (think CTS), gives it an AWD option (think Lexus IS/BMW 3 series) and plenty of power (300hp DI 3.6 in top form) it will sell.

Everyone here seems to think a "much better" Aura/Malibu won't sell. Need I remind you of the "much better" Outlook/Traverse/Acadia, aka the Buick Enclave. Selling fantastically!

I think they should look into using the Bose suspension system on future Buicks. At least thats what I would do if I was in charge of decision making.

Honestly I don't expect a whole lot of uniqueness out of Buick product anymore --- not after the past 6 years or so of reskins. It's just a matter of taste and whether or not you like Chevy or Saturn styling better at this point.

If they can at least offer up something for BPG dealerships that isn't shared with Pontiac or GMC, then I'm fine with it. Having reskinned overlap product in the same BPG dealerships is the only thing that bugs me, and it looks like GM is trying to move away from that. We'll see what happens when whatever replaces the G6 comes out -- but the current G6 really looks far and apart from the Aura and Malibu at this point.

As long as they have a unique front and rear fascia and don't try to give us another pack of CSV's, I'll live with it.
Agreed on the product overlap at BPG. The solution is to kill the G6, or the G6 as we know it.

Wow! This captured spy image looks very nice. It looks like they've successfully taken the Enclave's stylish luxury and translated it to a Buick sedan. If so, then I will be very pleased with how this looks!!! Hopefully the interior and technicals are equally impressive!

The buying public obviously agrees, because they vote with dollars to those who serve them best. If GM worked harder to make each division unique, you wouldn't have to merge brands. But, GM is merging brands, is that an admission they can't make two cars different enough because they refuse to change out of a stubborn corporate culture that relies on shortcuts and huge rebates?
Well???
Stop thinking of GM and more specifically Buick in this light:

GM is really outdoing itself with the new cars it is generating. Just think about the cars GM is producing now compared with just five years ago. This LaCrosse/Invicta will be stunning i'm sure. I have a really good feeling that MonaroSS' chop will look just about spot on in the flesh. Now GM just has to convince enough people that Toyota doesn't make the best cars in the world. That's the hard part.

Also I understand that some elements of the interior are still in the preproduction stages but what can we expect out of the interior of the new lacrosse? Lastly we have seen several photoshops of the exterior styling in previous posts in this thread. Are the photoshops close to the real deal or can we expect to see totally different styling? Oh and before i forget to ask this (if you can share it) What powertrain choices will be avalible for the new lacrosse?
It looks excactly like the drawing that was posted about a week ago. the interior is very close to the one inside the Saturn Aura revitalization thats posted on here as well. 3.6v6 is what was in the car I drove but I was told to expect a direct injection 3.6 later, also a six speed tranny and awd.

I take it since the lights look non-production, that is NOT the finished product. Kind of like camaro spy shots?

That looks like a Saturn AURA with a Buick Lucerne grille and Malibu-style headlights.

CobaltSS
I don't think we're screwed, but I'll agree with the "underwhelming" part. Of course, I won't judge the car until we see the final product, but I immediately thought "Aura" when I saw it. From the teasers GM has been leaking out, I really thought this was going to be a dramatic design. At this point, I think I was led astray.

The simple fact that the car looks familiar so far ahead of it's release does not bode well for Buick.

Sorry, forgot the lower door chrome strip.

The new cars coming out make me wonder what they could have built had they not had attack of the beancounters in the 80s.
Excellent job monaro as always.
I really hope that this car is a hit, but how can it not be.

Re: 2010 Buick LaCrosse Uncovered

Thanks guys for the positive comments. Hopefully the car itself will look great. Even though we don't get Buick in OZ it's one of my favorite GM Brands and it has a great history. When I was a kid Aussie politicians used to get chauffeured around in Buick’s.

I know that OZ will get Cadillac soon, but I would prefer we got a Buick like this which could go after the mid luxury Euro and Japanese products while being complimentary to the traditional Holden range.

Not really a fan of how the headlamps arch upwards Bangle-style, I wish they were more like the Enclave's, but I still like it.
