2010 Buick LaCrosse Caught Testing Again

Sorry if repost, didn't find it with a search though.

http://www.motorauthority.com/news/s...uick-lacrosse/

Quote:
Buick’s next-generation LaCrosse has been spotted testing at GM proving grounds both in the U.S. and Germany and as expected the shape of the prototype closely resembles the design of the recent Invicta Concept. Earlier this month, GM vice chairman Bob Lutz confirmed the two vehicles would be very similar and that the new LaCrosse will be shared on the same FWD Epsilon II platform as the Opel Insignia and next-gen Saab 9-5 as well as a new Chevrolet model.
Production of the 2010 LaCrosse is expected to start at GM’s Fairfax plant in Kansas in early 2009 and the first cars are tipped to arrive in U.S. showrooms towards the end of the year. The new model will be a global car and will likely be built in China with GM’s local partner Shanghai Auto as well.
American versions will get the same direct-injection 3.6L V6 found in the Chevrolet Traverse and should output a similar 286hp (213kW) and 345Nm (255lb-ft). The Chinese model could get the V6 as well as a new four-cylinder powerplant with 250hp (186kW) and 220lb-ft (298Nm) of torque. All models will come standard with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Odd. I didn't notice that at first.
Just more automotive journalists that don't know their stuff.

Re: 2010 Buick LaCrosse Caught Testing Again

So the 3.6 DI will only be set at 286hp in FWD applications? Or is that just the Traverse's figures they're using? This article seems to have heaps of mistakes.

Also, if they have a 4-cylinder engine that puts out 250hp (which I didn't know GM had such a motor), how are they going to justify only a 36hp bump for the V6?

Yeesh. Looks kind of Prius like. Short front end, tall bubble cabin. Gross.

Hopefully it will at least have a lot of interior room.

its only a preproduction car and as such it will have clothing and other forms of engineer trickery that distort its shape. I've seen a few over at Milford that have a little less front camo and I can say that it doesn't remind me of a prius one bit

Re: 2010 Buick LaCrosse Caught Testing Again

Article says Lutz confirms a new Chevy model based on this vehicle. Replacement for the Impala? Seems it would fit the known facts to me. Once the new Impala is introduced the current version could continue till it's end of production as the classic, meeting fleet demands. Seems to me GM has done this successfully in the past....
